Medium Is Not What It Used To Be

My experience with Medium honestly feels less like a writing platform now and more like a blogged version of Instagram or YouTube reels. There used to be a clear format, something that felt like an actual essay space, but somewhere along the way it turned into a clickbait machine chasing whatever gets clicks instead of what actually says something.

I have tried multiple times to follow the pattern, to write the way the algorithm seems to reward, and I have also tried just putting out what I genuinely like without worrying about the format. Neither approach felt fully right, but the second one at least felt like me.

What I have noticed though is that following trends, the way people do on Twitter, actually works better than trying to force a Medium shaped post. It is less polished maybe, but it moves faster and feels more honest, and at this point I would rather write something true and fast than something dressed up to look important.
