The Ink Well || Sunset Light Over a Rice Field

That afternoon, I paused for a moment at the edge of a newly planted rice paddy embankment. The sky was filled with thick, slowly moving clouds, like a natural curtain covering part of the afternoon sky. Behind the clouds, the sun was beginning to set, emitting golden light that penetrated through the gaps. The rays fell directly onto the surface of the rice paddy, creating a beautiful reflection as if there were two suns one in the sky and one on earth.

The atmosphere was serene. The afternoon breeze blew gently, creating small ripples in the water, making the shadows of the rice paddies sway as if dancing. In the distance, I could hear the sound of birds returning to their nests, signaling the day's end. I stood there for a long time, letting the sunlight caress my face and warm my chest. Deep in my heart, I felt small before this magnificent creation of God.

Every time I see a scene like this, I'm always reminded of how nature teaches so many things without saying a word. Rice paddies teach patience planting, tending, waiting, and then reaping the harvest. Clouds teach serenity though sometimes dark and blocking out the light, they will eventually disappear. And this afternoon's sun, its light filtering through the water, taught me that a glimmer of light will always find its way, even among the deepest shadows.

I took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of mud and wet grass. There was a stillness that was hard to describe, like time had stopped for a moment so I could fully savor this moment. In these times, where life is fast-paced and stressful, finding simple tranquility amidst nature like this felt incredibly precious.

The sun was lowering, its light dimming, but its reflection in the water remained captivating. I knew darkness would soon fall, but strangely, I felt no sadness. Because every sunset always promised a new morning like life continuing to turn, offering the opportunity to begin again.
