Dreams do come to pass
I could repair or build things prompting me to think of engineering, I could play football well and I was thinking of becoming a footballer. I could also use the computer pretty well and I was considering going into tech. In all these, I wanted to help the sick get better, I wanted to be a doctor.
There was an initial confusion, not knowing what exactly to focus or whether I would be able to combine it all.
As time went on and I was nearing the age for Higher institution, I decided to pursue the medical dream and become a doctor. I felt like I would be able to still combine a few of my dreams even if not all.
I studied hard and luckily, my efforts paid off and today I am a doctor, helping the sick just like I dreamt many years ago.
I killed some of my dreams including the footballing dream for it. That's one that sometimes I look back at it but I don't blame myself so much because I know that I didn't have the required support to push such a dream even though I had the talent. This is especially given my country of origin where to make it in football will require more than just raw talent.
Today when I walk through the wards, attending to the sick, no matter how stressful or unrewarded I feel, I am satisfied that I am doing one of the things I chose to do. I keep a smiling face and spread as much joy as I can knowing the importance of the job and how crucial it can be.
It's important to dream and it's important to have quality support in form of finance, advice and encouragement.
At the early age when we dream, we are usually helpless and dependent on others. The right support will make a huge difference for everyone. It could be the start of greatness for a young one or the fuel for more greatness.
I believe that we should not stop dreaming cos I am still dreaming. This time around, a huge part of my dreams depends on me, my decisions and choices. So I will keep on working towards actualising these dreams.
One dream is not enough.

Hi
Promote your post in our discord server and tag three persons you supported
Oh, will do that now.
Thank you
Have a similar footballing story where lack of support denies it
Very painful
Sports in a country like Nigeria, it takes the grace of God to make it happen.

Must be nice hearing people say "Hey Doc!"
The dreams of career we have as kids sometimes were just because we were kids then, and sometimes we may actually figure out we can be what we dreamed of when we were younger. A lot of things affect our choices, lac of support being one of them. But thankfully, you found yourself in the path you wanted to be.
Nice writing Doc!
I'm surprised I can even read a doctor's handwriting 😄.
Spot on. Many things actually played a role, some threatening while others propelling. All in all, I am grateful it worked out in the end.
Lol, wait till I prescribe drugs😅
You made a nice choice there I would say. And that just a part of life. Glad you are now a medical and practitioner of medicine.
Thanks so much bro. I'm Glad too😊
I always say, the most tragic thing is to have dreams without resources to back it up. At least you were able to achieve one of your desired dreams.
Yeah, you are right. It could be very demoralising, especially when you now see others achieving same thing you wanted but couldn't.
Thank you
😊Even though u didn't be the footballer u wanted u still became the doctor u still wanted ur hardwork didn't go for waste, congrats dear
Exactly, it was not a waste.
