La semana pasada les compartí el reemplazo de la empacadura del tapa válvulas, pensando que esa podía ser la causa de la falla que viene presentando el carro desde hace varias semanas atrás. Sin embargo la falla persiste y como el escaner arrojó una falla en el sensor del árbol de leva, hoy lo llevé a que se lo cambiaran a ver si se terminaba este tormento.

Compré un sensor catalogado como "bueno" marca Parmol por 50 dólares, porque ese carro no tolera sensores baratos. Se lo llevé al electricista para que lo instalara y revisara el funcionamiento del conector y los cables que lo alimentan.
Antes de instalarlo le pasó nuevamente el escaner y salió la falla en el sensor del árbol de leva.

Luego procedió a revisar el conector de la alimentación de ese sensor y verificó con el tester que estaba funcionando bien. Entonces sacó el sensor viejo y lo probó con el tester, indicando que uno de los pines no tenía voltaje. Enseguida probó el sensor nuevo y el tester marcaba lectura para los tres pines, lo cual indica que efectivamente, el sensor estaba deficiente.

Finalmente procedió a instalarlo y al pasarle el escaner nuevamente arrojó otra falla codificada como P0705 que, segun el mecánico, indicaba problemas con la caja.

Le dimos una vuelta al carro para probarlo y todo anadaba perfecto. Nuevamente le pasó el escaner y esta vez no mostró códigos de error y no se encendió ninguna luz en el tablero. Me dijo que si despúes encendía la luz de "hold" posiblemente habia problemas con la caja.

Terminado el trabajo me lo llevé a casa y en la tarde sali nuevamente con el carro y en una intersección, luego de esperar el cambio de luz, el carro se quedó en el arranque y le volvió a dar la falla que se prolongó por largo rato. Lo apagué y esperé unos minutos pero seguía igual. Tuve que seguir conduciendo con la falla hasta que de repente se alivió y volvió a marchar normalmente.

Llamé al mecánico y me dijo que debía dejárselo unos dias en el taller para hacerle un seguimiento mas detenido hasta dar con el problema. Por lo pronto tocará esperar a ver cómo evoluciona hasta entonces.

Last week I shared with you the replacement of the valve cover gasket, thinking that this could be the cause of the failure that has been presenting the car for several weeks ago. However the failure persists and as the scanner showed a failure in the camshaft sensor, today I took it to be changed to see if this torment was over.

I bought a “good” Parmol brand sensor for $50, because that car does not tolerate cheap sensors. I took it to the electrician to install it and check the operation of the connector and the wires that feed it.
Before installing it he ran the scanner again and the camshaft sensor failure came up.

He then proceeded to check the power connector on that sensor and verified with the tester that it was working fine. He then removed the old sensor and tested it with the tester, indicating that one of the pins had no voltage. He then tested the new sensor and the tester read all three pins, indicating that the sensor was indeed faulty.

Finally he proceeded to install it and when he ran the scanner again it threw another fault coded as P0705 which, according to the mechanic, indicated problems with the box.

We took the car for a test drive and everything was fine. He ran the scanner again and this time it showed no error codes and no lights on the dashboard. He told me that if the “hold” light came on afterwards, there might be a problem with the gearbox.

Finished the work I took it home and in the afternoon I went out again with the car and at an intersection, after waiting for the light change, the car stayed in the ignition and gave the fault that lasted for a long time. I turned it off and waited a few minutes but it was still the same. I had to keep driving with the fault until suddenly it relieved and started running normally again.

I called the mechanic and he told me that I should leave it in the shop for a few days to follow it more closely until I found the problem. For now I will have to wait and see how it evolves until then.
