I'm stopping by to share with you an unforeseen repair I had to perform to the aveo's air conditioner, because I recently noticed that the compressor was turning on but it wasn't cooling. So I figured there was some gas leak problem somewhere in the a/c system.

I was several weeks without air and it is really uncomfortable to drive a car when it is raining and without air conditioning, not only because of the heat, but because the windows fog up and you have to be cleaning them every moment.

When I took it to the technician, he tested the pressure to the pipe branch and told me that the aluminum pipe was broken and that's why it had run out of gas.

This breakage was caused in the last repair that was made to the car, supposedly by a bad manipulation by the mechanic. Apparently he moved it and it bumped into another one and caused the problem.

This is certainly a match, because the air stopped cooling right after leaving that shop.

The technician had to disassemble the whole branch and send it to be welded somewhere else because it was an aluminum weld and he did not have the tools to do it.

It took him about half an hour and then he proceeded to reassemble the whole system, charged with gas and checked for leaks.
Everything was well sealed and there were no leaks, fortunately. The whole repair process was done in about two and a half hours at a total cost of $60.

What happened to me is an experience to be aware of the next time I take the car to the shop for other repairs. The mechanics when they are working on engine parts start to disassemble other things and don't realize that it is the same as they got it or they mistreat the pipes and don't say anything.

Un inconveniente con el aire acondicionado del Aveo

Saludos amigos de la comunidad motorizada de hive @hivemotors, espero se encuentren de lo mejor en esta sábado de fin de semana.

Paso por aquí para compartirles una reparación imprevista que tuve que realizar al aire acondicionado del aveo, porque recientemente noté que el compresor encendía pero no estaba enfriando. Así que me imaginé que había algún problema de fuga de gas en alguna parte del sistema del aire acondicionado.

Estuve varias semanas sin aire y de verdad que es incómodo conducir un auto cuando está lloviendo y sin aire acondicionado, no solo por el tema del calor, sino porque los vidrios se empañan y hay que estar limpiándolos a cada momento.

Cuando se lo llevé al técnico, le probó la presión al ramal de la tubería y me dijo que la tubería de aluminio estaba rota y por eso se había quedado sin gas.

Esta rotura fue ocasionada en la última reparación que le hicieron al carro, supuestamente por una mala manipulación por parte del mecánico. Al parecer la movió y ésta tropezó con otra y ocasionó el problema.

Esto ciertamente coincide, porque el aire dejó de enfriar justo después de salir de ese taller.

El técnico tuvo que desarmar todo el ramal y mandarlo a soldar en otro sitio porque era una soldadura en aluminio y él no tenía los implementos para realizarla.

Tardó aproximadamente media hora y luego procedió a armar nuevamente todo el sistema, cargó con gas y chequeo fugas.
Todo quedó bien sellado y no hubo fugas, afortunadamente. Todo el proceso de reparación se hizo aproximadamente en dos horas y media con un costo total de 60 dólares.

Esto que me sucedió me sirve de experiencia para estar pendiente la próxima vez que lleve el carro al taller para otras reparaciones. Los mecánicos cuando están trabajando con partes del motor comienzan a desarmar otras cosas y no se percatan de que quede igual como las consiguieron o maltratan las tuberías y no dicen nada.
