I'm passing by to share with you a little walk I had last weekend in a very old square in the city of Barquisimeto, known by all as Plaza la Mora, but whose real name is “Plaza bicentenaria de la batalla de Carabobo”.

Last Sunday I went to visit my brother who lives in the center of the city and suffers from a neurological disease and they told me that he wanted to go out and get some sun. So I dressed him up and took him for a walk around his residence.

When we passed by this square, we sat on a bench to contemplate the iguanas that at that time were being fed by a man, belonging to the national guard, who is there to take care of these animals. I was surprised to see so many little animals coming down from the trees to eat.

Talking with him, he told me that he always feeds them bananas, which is his favorite fruit, and sometimes he gives them directly from his hand. However, he has to wear leather gloves because he has already received a few bites with his sharp teeth.

The iguana is a reptile of the saurian family, not very nice looking because it looks like a miniature dinosaur. This animal is from tropical climates and feeds exclusively on leaves and some fruits.

I asked him if people respect these animals, because some people hunt them to eat their meat, and he showed me the cameras installed in the corners of the square, where they monitor everything that happens there.

If anyone abuses these animals, they will be arrested immediately. He even told me that an engineer responsible for the last remodeling of the plaza was arrested for removing one of the cedar trees with a machine.

The plaza is a bit neglected, but in the last remodeling they put in new benches and made some improvements. I love to feel the breeze and listen to the birds singing while I rest on the bench. My brother was also very pleased with the walk.

Paseando por la plaza la mora

Saludos amigos de esta comunidad de @lifestyle , les deseo lo mejor en este viernes, comienzo del fin de semana.

Paso por acá para compartirles un pequeño paseo que tuve el fin de semana pasado por una plaza muy antigua de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, conocida por todos como plaza la Mora, pero cuyo nombre verdadero es "Plaza bicentenaria de la batalla de Carabobo".

El pasado domingo fui a visitar a mi hermano que vive en el centro de la ciudad y padece una enfermedad neurológica y me comentaron que quería salir a tomar un poco de sol. Así que lo vestí y me lo llevé a caminar por los alrededores de su residencia.

Cuando pasamos por esta plaza, nos sentamos en una banca a contemplar las iguanas que a esa hora estaban siendo alimentadas por un señor, perteneciente a la guardia nacional, que está allí para cuidar de estos animales. Me sorprendió ver a tantos animalitos que bajaron de los árboles a comer.

Conversando con el señor, me comentó que siempre les da de comer bananas, que es su fruta predilecta y a veces se la da directamente de su mano. Sin embargo, debe usar guantes de carnaza porque ya ha recibido algunas mordidas con sus filosos dientes.

La iguana es un reptil de la familia de los saurios, de aspecto no muy agradable porque parece un dinosauro en miniatura. Este animal es de climas tropicales y se alimenta exclusivamente de hojas y algunas frutas.

Le pregunté que si las personas respetaban estos animales, porqe algunos las cazan para comer su carne, y me mostró las ámaras instaladas en las esquinas de la plaza, donde monitorean todo lo que allí sucede.

En caso de que alguien abuse de estos animales, enseguida será apresado. Incluso me comentó que a un ingeniero responsable de la última remodelación de la plaza se lo llevaron preso por sacar uno de los árboles de cedro con la máquina.

La plaza está un poco descuidada, pero en la última remodelación le colocaron bancos nuevos y le hicieron algunas mejoras. A mi me encanta sentir la brisa y escuchar el canto de los pájaros mientras descanso en la banca. Mi hermano también lo noté complacido por el paseo.
