Warm greetings dear friends, lovers of architecture and design, I hope you have enjoyed an excellent weekend.

Here we are still looking for architectural novelties to present to you. This time I bring you images of the building where, for many years, worked the headquarters of the governor.

This building was built almost 100 years ago and has a colonial style design very striking for its plaster decorations in the arabesques of the ceilings, the fountain in the center of the courtyard and the turned columns that give much elegance and beauty to this construction.

Many historical figures have passed through this building, built at the beginning of the century, since it has housed barracks, legislative assemblies, government palace and currently, the headquarters of the Tourism Corporation of Lara (Cortulara) and the Secretary of Government.

Several years ago I was working in a department of the government that was in charge of the construction of infrastructure works and sometimes we were summoned to meetings in this palace in a beautiful room called “Aguinagalde room” which has a beautiful fresco painted on the ceiling. A true work of art.

Unfortunately, when I went in to take pictures, these rooms were closed to the public, as were the offices and other rooms in the building.

The colonial facade has large wooden doors, traditional windows that come out of the wall formed by iron bars and wooden windows and several balconies with similar characteristics, from where the rulers used to speak to the people.

In its interior it has wide corridors that communicate all the rooms of the first floor and a central patio where a beautiful gazebo is appreciated, a kind of concrete fountain with a dome-shaped roof, whose design is of French origin.

Around it there are gardens with natural plants and walkways that lead to each of the spaces of the place.

The floor is covered with clay tiles of various designs and colors, the doors made of wood are very well preserved and the access to the second floor is made by beautiful stairs that match the railings that protect the corridors of the upper part of the building.

On the rear façade there is another entrance that is generally used by the authorities who make use of the subway parking lot, a kind of bunker used to protect high officials and important people in dangerous situations.

Above the parking lot there is a recently built plaza with beautiful lighting and pleasant green areas that complement the design of this building.

This building is currently being used to store important works of art of great historical and cultural value that are accessible to the general public.

In summary, this important building is considered cultural heritage of the state, for its high cultural and historical value and has been restored several times to what we know today as the government palace.

Antigua sede de la gobernación de Lara

Saludos cordiales estimados amigos amantes de la arquitectura y el diseño, espero hayan disfrutado de un excelente fin de semana.

Por acá seguimos en la búsqueda de novedades arquitectonicas para presentarles. Esta vez les traigo imágenes de la edificación donde, por muchos años, funcionó la sede de la gobernación.

Este edificio está construido hace ya casi 100 años y tiene un diseño al estilo colonial muy llamativo por sus decoraciones en yeso en los arabescos de los techos, la fuente en el centro del patio y las columnas torneadas que le dan mucha elegancia y belleza a esta construcción.

Por esta edificación, construida a principios de siglo, han pasado muchos personajes de la historia, puesto que en ella han funcionado, cuarteles, asambleas legislativas, palacio de gobierno y actualmente, allí funciona la sede de la corporación de turismo de Lara (Cortulara) y la secretaria de gobierno.

Hace varios años yo estuve laborando en una dependencia de la gobernación que se encargaba de la construcción de obras de infraestructura y algunas veces nos citaban a reuniones en este palacio en un hermoso salón llamado "salón Aguinagalde" el cual luce un hermoso fresco pintado en el techo. Una verdadera obra de arte.

Lamentablemente cuando entré a tomar las fotos, estos salones permanecían cerrados al publico al igual que las oficinas y otros ambientes del edificio.

La fachada colonial, posee grandes puertas de madera, tradicionales ventanas que salen de la pared formadas por rejas de hierro y ventanas de madera y varios balcones con similares características, desde donde los gobernantes acostumbraban hablarle al pueblo.

En su parte interior posee amplios corredores que comunican todos los ambientes de la planta baja y un patio central donde se aprecia una hermosa glorieta, una especie de fuente de concreto con techo en forma de cúpula, cuyo diseño es de origen francés.

Alrededor de ella existen jardines con plantas naturales y caminerias que conducen a cada uno de los espacios del lugar.

El piso está revestido con baldosas de arcilla de varios diseños y colores, las puertas hechas de madera se conservan muy bien y el acceso al segundo piso se hace por hermosas escaleras que hacen juego con las barandas que protegen los pasillos de la parte alta de la edificación.

En la fachada posterior existe otra entrada que generalmente es usada por las autoridades que hacen uso del estacionamiento subterráneo, una especie de bunker usado para resguardar a los altos funcionarios y personas importantes en situaciones de peligro.

Encima del estacionamiento existe una plazoleta de reciente construcción con bonitas luminarias y agradables áreas verdes que complementan el diseño de esta hermosa construcción.

En la actualidad este edificio está siendo utilizado para resguardar importantes obras de arte de gran valor histórico y cultural y que son accesibles al público en general.

En resumen, esta importante edificación está considerada patrimonio cultural del estado, por su alto valor cultural e histórico y ha sido restaurado en varias oportunidades hasta llegar a lo que hoy conocemos como el palacio de gobierno.
