The story of the bells that fell silent
Good day dear Friends and Photography Lovers 🙌📸
Today I will tell you in words and show you with photos a sad story about the war in my country, about a terrible madness.
During the Homeland War, in 1991, in the town of Pokupsko, about 40 kilometers from my town, the parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was severely damaged by enemy shelling. The shells hit the bell tower, causing a fire that destroyed the structure on which the three church bells were located. Due to the great heat, while the bell tower was burning, the bells fell, cracked and deformed. They became silent witnesses to the destruction of the war. The church, the organ and valuable sacral inventory also perished with them.
Today, these destroyed Pokupsko bells remain a symbol of a time in which not only buildings were targeted, but also the history, culture and spirit of a region. Wanting to preserve the memory of what was lost, the community rebuilt its church, and the wounded bells were placed in front of the church and silently bear witness to the insane war in which targets are not chosen.
So, I've told the story, now let's look at the photos together!

I took the photos with my Samsung A16 mobile phone, no processing.
This is all for Today, see you soon!
