Happy New Week dear friends on Hive feels good to make it to another NWM, I've already read some wonderful creations so far and I must say, today's NeedleWork authors are on fire, permit me, I couldn't find a better word to express how I feel about their beautiful creations. Keep up the good work guys.

I've been down for days and thought I wouldn't make it today, you guys are my motivation, and I couldn't help but put the finishing touches on a pending sewing surprise outfit I've been making for my mum. Everyone has a unique style sense, growing up, I observed my mum's love for any jacket outfit, probably due to the nature of her job or just that natural likeness, I can't really say which, overtime her jacket has experienced a change as fashion changes too, still maintaining elegance, but I doubt my mum will ever let her vintage jacket go, another fabric she has also gotten attached to is the ankara fabric, and becoming a designer myself, I finally had the skill to make her very first ankara jacket, ever since her love for ankara jacket grew, especially having a daughter that can make her these jackets in a different style.

I stumbled on a stylish ankara jacket and inner gown online and loved how it looked on the model, so I decided to recreate the style for my mum since she is a lover of these type of fashion, the inner would be made with the black and white ankara fabric, while the other patterned ankara fabric for the jacket, I added the black and white fabric details to the sleeve to form a puffy sleeve.

I'm only done with the jacket, so today, I will be sharing its making process, which is quite easy to make

Materials used

• Ankara fabric
• lining fabric
• long zipper, about 40 inches
• Elastic

Cutting and sewing process

• I started by drafting the back pattern on fold

• using the back pattern, I traced and cut out the front pattern, leaving the zipper allowance in the middle

• Next, I sewed both front and back patterns by the sides and shoulder.

• The lining fabric was cut the same as the main fabric, just about an inch shorter in length, I joined them the same as the maid fabric before turning the main fabric neatly with it.

• Not forgetting the zipper, I sewed it on the zipper allowance I left at the front middle pattern of both sides before turning the lining.

• The sleeve is a two-in-one sleeve, a basic and puffy sleeve beneath, I gathered the base before joining to the basic sleeve and also passed an elastic inside the case I sewed around its hem.

And that completes the making process of the beautiful and colorful jacket, I hope I have the strength to finish the Inner dress soon, and I sure will share the final result here with you guys.
