El gran premio de Singapur se llevó este fin de semana, dejando noticias importantes como la vuelta al triunfo de George Russell y Mercedes, además de una batalla por el campeonato que se creía que sería entre los pilotos de Mercedes, pero Max Verstappen cada vez ilusiona más para obtener su quinto campeonato. Singapur redefine la lucha por el campeonato. ¿El piloto de RedBull y actual campeón es un serio contendiente?

La realidad es que unos meses atrás se creía que el campeonato sería entre los pilotos de la escudería de color papaya, pero cada vez Max Verstappen está cada vez más amenazante, con triunfos en Italia y Azerbaiyán, que combinado a malos resultados de los pilotos de McLaren, lo ponen seriamente en la lucha. Max Verstappen llegó a Singapur con una desventaja de 44 puntos con respecto a Lando Norris, quien es segundo y a 77 de Oscar Piastri, pero ambos piloto de Woking no se mostraron cómodos y un toque entre ambos al inicio de la competencia, hizo que todo el mundo contuvieran la respiración. Sin lugar a dudas fue uno de los momentos de máxima tensión, incluso las comunicaciones por la radio, estaban picando, pues Piastri se quejó de la maniobra de su compañero. Creo que estas situaciones no se deben repetir, pues Max está cada vez más al asecho y una oportunidad que le den al piloto de Países Bajos, puede ser catastrófico para los pilotos de la escudería británica.

El circuito de Singapur es un trazado que nos suele sorprender, algunos años nos ha dado sorpresas, buenas carreras, pero la realidad es que en el sentido de entretenimiento, la carrera fue bastante mala, muy plana, pocos adelantamientos y es algo que la categoría debería mirar para los siguientes años y se espera que con los nuevos autos la cosa vaya para mejor. La F1 es la categoría reina del deporte motor y creo que debe regresar a la cúspide, a sus mejores años. Las últimas carreras han sido tediosas, falta más emoción. Sin embargo, lo que sí quiero destacar es la clasificación, pues hubo cierta emoción, todo estaba muy parejo, los neumáticos ofrecían suficiente agarre para varias vueltas, por lo cual la actividad en pista era constante. La pista mejoraba con cada segunda, por lo que obligaba a los pilotos a mantenerse atentos y salir para no quedarse con un mal resultado.

The reality is that a few months ago it was believed that the championship would be between the drivers of the papaya-colored team, but Max Verstappen is becoming increasingly threatening, with victories in Italy and Azerbaijan, which, combined with poor results from the McLaren drivers, put him seriously in the fight. Even after this weekend, the Woking team must seriously analyze their chances, because a retirement of both drivers could seal the future of the long-awaited championship, which for months was believed to be safe, but the current reality is different and it is important to analyze this, as I think it is one of the most relevant things that the weekend's Grand Prix left us with.

Max Verstappen arrived in Singapore trailing Lando Norris, who is second, by 44 points and Oscar Piastri by 77, but neither Woking driver looked comfortable and a collision between the two at the start of the race had everyone holding their breath. It was undoubtedly one of the most tense moments, with even the radio communications becoming heated as Piastri complained about his teammate's maneuver. I believe that these situations should not be repeated, as Max is increasingly on the prowl and any opportunity given to the Dutch driver could be catastrophic for the British team's drivers.

The Singapore circuit is a track that often surprises us. Some years it has given us surprises and good races, but the reality is that in terms of entertainment, the race was pretty bad, very flat, with few overtakes, and this is something that the category should look at for the coming years. Hopefully, with the new cars, things will improve. F1 is the premier category of motorsport, and I believe it should return to the top, to its best years. The last few races have been tedious; they need more excitement. However, what I do want to highlight is the qualifying, as there was some excitement, everything was very even, the tires offered enough grip for several laps, so the action on the track was constant. The track improved with every second, forcing the drivers to stay alert and go out so as not to end up with a bad result.

Para analizar un poco lo que fue el fin de semana, es importante mencionar los entrenamientos libres, donde Fernando Alonso estuvo en lo más alto en una práctica que sirve de muy poco, pues es de día con temperaturas que da un agarre distinto con respecto a la noche, hora donde se da la clasificación y carrera. Por otro lado, Pistri quedó primera en la segunda práctica, mientras que Verstappen hizo lo propio en la tercera. La verdad es que veía incómodos a los pilotos de McLaren, no les salía las vueltas tan fáciles como en carreras favorables para su coche, mientras que Verstappen sé le veía con la seguridad necesaria para dar un golpe a la tabla de posiciones del campeonato o al menos descontar puntos con sus rivales.

La clasificación fue interesante desde mi punto de vista, un Russell que sorprendió con la pole, pero la gran duda era si podría mantener el ritmo durante la carrera y lo pudo hacer para llevarse el segundo triunfo del año, emulando a Canadá, donde también estuvo en lo más alto del podio. Dedo decir que Mercedes me sorprendió, creí que Ferrari era quien podía batir a Max y los pilotos de la escudería de Woking, pero el británico de la escudería alemana demostró que cuando tiene el coche, peleará por las victorias de estas últimas carreras que quedan. La competencia de Russell fue buena, pudo controlar la competencia de principio a fin y mantener a sus rivales a raya, incluso le sacó más de ocho segundos en su momento al piloto #1 del equipo austriaco.

Piastri logró la tercera posición en la clasificación, mientras que Norris fue apenas quinto, incluso superado por Kimi Antonelli. El Gran Premio de Singapur 2025 arrancó con un momento de alta tensión entre los dos pilotos de McLaren, Oscar Piastri y Lando Norris, quienes además son contendientes directos por el campeonato. Creo que esto fue lo más importante de la carrera. To analyze the weekend a little, it is important to mention the free practice sessions, where Fernando Alonso was at the top in a practice that serves little purpose, as it is during the day with temperatures that give a different grip compared to the night, when qualifying and the race take place. On the other hand, Pistri finished first in the second practice session, while Verstappen did the same in the third. The truth is that I saw the McLaren drivers looking uncomfortable, they weren't getting the laps as easily as in races that favor their car, while Verstappen looked confident enough to make a move on the championship standings or at least close the gap on his rivals.

The qualifying was interesting from my point of view, with Russell surprising everyone with pole position, but the big question was whether he could keep up the pace during the race. He managed to do so, taking his second win of the year, emulating Canada, where he also stood on the top step of the podium. I have to say that Mercedes surprised me. I thought Ferrari was the team that could beat Max and the Woking team's drivers, but the British driver from the German team showed that when he has the car, he will fight for victories in the remaining races. Russell's performance was good; he was able to control the race from start to finish and keep his rivals at bay, even pulling more than eight seconds ahead of the Austrian team's #1 driver at one point.

Piastri took third place in the standings, while Norris was only fifth, even surpassed by Kimi Antonelli. The 2025 Singapore Grand Prix kicked off with a moment of high tension between the two McLaren drivers, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, who are also direct contenders for the championship. I think this was the most important part of the race. Norris took third place, with damage to his front wing, but this did not affect his performance in keeping Piastri, who finished fourth, under control. Verstappen, on the other hand, was second, but honestly his pace was slower than Norris's, and overtaking was quite difficult.
