What better way to begin than with this sentence, the review of the film A Street Cat Named Bob, a beautiful story directed by Roger Spottiswoode, based on the story of James Bowen and a cat who, more than just his pet, became his unconditional friend. Maria Nation and Tim John were in charge of the screenplay, adapted from the novel written by James, where he tells us his wonderful story that can serve as inspiration for many. As people, we often lack the ability to strive to take advantage of the second chances that life gives us. This film shows us that when we think all is lost, it is not so, and people, and in this case animals, will appear to help us out of the darkness in which we find ourselves.

The plot of the film tells us about James Bowen, who was abandoned by his parents after becoming addicted to drugs. The film gives us an idea of how James ended up in this situation. While I love the story of the film, how Bowan managed to get ahead when he met a cat, Bob, who helped him get ahead, no matter how difficult his situation of abandonment was, he took refuge in the emotional support of his pet. The truth is that cats are not my favorite pets; I like dogs better, but all animals can help us in our worst moments, helping us to keep going when we think we can't go on anymore. I'm telling you this because many of us go through these situations, and my pets are a great support to me, which is one of the main reasons why I can say that I connected with the film.

Que mejor que comenzar con esta frase, la reseña sobre la película Un gato callejero llamado Bob, una hermosa historia dirigida por Roger Spottiswoode, basada en la historia de James Bowen y un gato que más que su mascota, se convirtió en su amigo incodicional. Maria Nation y Tim John fueron encargados del guion, adaptado de la novela escrita por James donde nos cuenta su maravillosa historia que puede servir de inspiración para muchos. Como personas muchas veces no tenemos la capacidad de esforzarse para aprovechar las segundad oportunidades que nos da la vida. Esta película nos muestra que cuando creemos que todo está perdido, pues no es así, van aparecer personas y este caso animales que nos ayudaran a salir de la oscuridad de la cual nos encontramos.

La trama del filme nos habla sobre James Bowen, quien fue abandonado por sus padres tras volverse adicto a las drogas. En la película se nos da una idea como James llegó a esta situación. Si bien me encanta la historia de la película, como Bowan logró salir adelante cuando en su camino se le presentó un gato, Bob, quien lo ayudó a salir adelante, por más difícil que fuese su situación de abandono, se refugió en el apoyo emocional de la mascota. La verdad es que los gatos no tan de mis mascotas preferidas, me gustan más los perros, pero todos los animales nos puede ayudar en nuestros peores momentos, sirven para que continuemos adelante cuando creemos que ya no podemos más. Se los digo porque muchos pasamos por estas situaciones y mis mascotas son de gran apoyo para mí, siendo esto una de las principales razones por la cual puedo decir que conecté con el filme.

Although I think the film has a great story, I would have liked to learn more about James, how he got to the beginning of the film, and more about his parents. James is a boy who lives on the streets of London. He is addicted to drugs and sings on the streets to be able to eat, although he often fails to collect anything, as we know that addicts are frowned upon, as they usually fall into the same trap. The truth is that I am not one to judge anyone. If I had a family member in this situation, I would support them to the end in any way I could. But it is very easy to say this. It is not a simple situation at all. However, this film shows us that redemption is quite impossible, even when we believe the opposite, when others see us as a problem.

This is a topic that can be controversial, but my opinion is that people with mental health issues and/or addictions deserve respect, opportunities, and understanding. Of course, to a certain extent, I can understand those who think otherwise, as it is not an easy situation to deal with. This is a film with a thought-provoking story. Although it lasts just over an hour and a half, it seemed too short, and I was left wanting to see more. Even though the story is not perfect, I liked seeing the connection between the animals and the pets, and the mutual support between them.

The director's work was quite good, the approach he gave to the film and what he wanted to show on screen. Luke Treadaway played James, with a good performance, showing us the different moments the protagonist went through, from the darkest moments a person can experience, to finding a light at the end of the tunnel. There are other secondary characters in the film, but I focus more on James and Bob. I'm not sure if Bob was the same cat in real life, but I think so. I didn't really want to research the film too much; I wanted to approach it from a personal point of view. The cinematography was done by Peter Wunstorf, who did a great job, with beautiful settings such as the streets of London, but it doesn't just show the good side, it also shows us how hostile it can be. I love how the connection between James Bowen and Bob is shown, the bond that these two manage to have.

Si bien la película me parece que tiene una gran historia, me fuese gustado conocer más en profundidad sobre James, como llegó al inicio de la película, conocer más sobre sus padres. James es un chico que vive en las calles de Londres, es adicto a las drogas, canta en las calles para poder comer, aunque muchas veces no lograr recolectar nada, pues sabemos que las personas adictas llegan a ser mal vistas, pues normalmente suelen caer en el mismo error. La verdad es que no soy para juzgar a nadie, en mi caso de tener un familiar lo apoyaría hasta el final en lo que se me sea posible. Pero muy fácil es decir esto último. Para nada es una situación sencilla. Pero esta película nos muestra que la redención es bastante imposible, incluso cuando creemos lo contrario, cuando los demás nos ven como un problema.

Este es un tema que puede llegar a ser controversial, pero mi opinión es que las personas que tiene problemas mentales y/o adicciones merecen respeto, oportunidades y comprensión, claro hasta cierto punto puedo entender aquellos que piensen lo contrario, pues es una situación que no es fácil de llevar. Una película que tiene una historia para reflexionar, incluso la duración de la historia de un poco más de una hora y media, pero pareció pocas, me quede con ganas de ver más, a pesar de que la historia no es perfecta, pero me gustó ver la conexión entre los animales y las mascotas, el apoyo mutuo entre ambos.

El trabajo del director fue bastante bueno, el efoque que le dio al filme y lo que quiso mostrar en pantalla. Luke Treadaway fue quien interpretó a James, con una actuación buena, pues nos mostró los diferentes momentos que pasó el protagonista, desde los momentos más oscuros que puede pasar una persona, hasta encontrar una luz al final del turno. En la película aparecen otros personajes secundarios, pero me centro más en James y Bob. Tengo la duda que si Bob era el mismo gato de la vida real, creo que sí, realmente no quise investigar mucho sobre el filme, lo quise hacer desde el punto de vista desde una opinión personal. La fotografía de la película estuvo a cargo de Peter Wunstorf, haciendo un gran trabajo, escenario bonitos como son las calles de Londres, pero no solo se muestra lo bueno, sino que también nos puede llegar lo hostil que puede llegar a ser. Me encanta como se nos muestra la conexión entre James Bowen y Bob, el vínculo que logran tener estos dos.

David Hirschfelder was in charge of the soundtrack, with compositions that created an atmosphere that showed us the different emotional moments our protagonist went through. I really recommend you watch this film, it shows us that we should always fight for second chances, never give up, and that with effort we can succeed. Anything is possible, especially when we have the support of people who don't give up, and even more so in this case, a cat. This film shows us how Bob was James's salvation, but I think they both saved each other, forming a strong bond between them. I hope you get to see the film A Street Cat Named Bob.

David Hirschfelder fue en el encargado de la banda sonora, con composiciones que daban una atmósfera que nos mostraba los diferentes momentos emocionales que pasaba nuestro protagonista. Realmente les recomiendo que vea el filme, esta es una película que nos muestra que siempre debemos luchar por las segundas oportunidades, no rendirse, que con esfuerzo se puede salir adelante. Todo es posible y más cuando contamos con el apoyo de personas que no se dan por vencida y más en este caso de un gato. Esta película nos muestra como Bob fue la salvación de James, pero creo que ambos se salvaron, logrando un gran vínculo entre sí. Espero que lleguen a ver la película Un gato callejero llamado Bob.
