As long as we are humans, it is bound to happen

Are we not humans? Of course, we are; blood runs in our veins, so forgetfulness is bound to happen. So, let me share my experience on this topic " skipped my mind"
On this fateful day, my daughter needed to be taken to the general hospital because she ran a temperature throughout the night. So, my last baby boy, who was just 3 years old in reception two class at that time, was dressed up for school, and the school bus came to pick him up, and everybody went their way until we spent the whole of the day at the hospital, forgetting to tell him anything. Hmm!

After school hours he went to drop my son off as usual, my daughter was 6years that time but she had been taught how to open the door, enter and lock the door behind and face their homework, eat, and rest before we came back in the evening around 6pm and this routine of being independent has been helping because I have nowhere to put them and I also don't like the idea of my children staying with neighbors and so on.

However, we had forgotten that Flourish would be stranded if he got back home due to the keys were faulty but used strategy to open but with the level of his understanding, he was unable to open the door and my son took the key and tried to open but could not and he was seated at our entrance from 3.30pm, my God!

That small boy has cried, and the tears on his face have dried up, showing the mark on his cheeks. When it dawned on me that I had forgotten my son and he would be lonely in the compound, was around 6pm. Immediately, I jacked back to life and rushed home as if my absent senses came back functioning with full force🤔 Don't blame me because I was also after my sick child🤔

Immediately, I opened the gate and saw him seated alone; tears began to roll down my cheeks. As he was trying to explain why he couldn't open the door and was asking why we left him outside, both of us were crying and I was just sayingsorry I felt so bad at that point, and you know the funny part? He refused to enter our neighbor's apartment when they saw him sitting alone in a school uniform and called him but he refused. My baby refused to go anywhere, and he waited for Mom to be back; I couldn't believe the training we gave them could yield positive in no time.

My husband was not at home when all this happened, when I gave him the gist, he couldn't hold it but to hug my son one million times. The scene was so emotional, and today, the scene feels fresh, but we are grateful for God's safety.

This is my response to the #hivelearners weekly prompt on the topic: Skipped my mind

Well, you're panicking due to your daughter's condition so it can't be really helped if you forgot about your son not able to get inside your house. What matters is that as soon as you remember, you immediately rushed back to your house.

Hehehe, it was not funny at all because leaving a baby of 3 years all by himself outside for 3 hours shouldn't be seen as something normal at all.
Thank God for his grace!
