A Change in My Country

There are so many things bad about my country that I hope for a change soonest but is the change going to happen? Since my birth, there has been a slogan Naija go better. This slogan was what we get from our fathers. Now, it has been passed down to us, and we have also extended it to our children🤔 What is stopping the change from happening? That's because we have bad leadership system in Nigeria. Nevertheless, we must hope for a change.

One thing I wish could be different in my country is the system of leadership. This aspect of politics holds a great role in the development of a country. Citizens of a nation need a reliable and supportive system of leaders because they are the ones making general decisions regarding the nation. The system of leadership in my country is contaminated by greedy people. They worry more about their personal income than the proper fairing of the country by making decisions mainly for their benefit.

The Educational, Health, Economic, Agricultural, Electricity, and Transportation system in my country would have been very developed if only we had law-abiding and God-fearing leaders. The government schools are nothing to write about. Some schools are in a state of emergency, some with no furniture, and students sit on the floor; why? Our leader's children are studying abroad so they don't care what the citizens are going through.

Teaching and learning are not conducive, 120+ in a smaller class for a teacher🤔

What about the health sector? This area is even worse. We have public health care that is supposed to be easily accessible to citizens but reverse is the case. They extort at every opportunity, no drugs, no doctors, inadequate equipment, and sometimes, no source of electricity and many other factors. So tell me, why the majority will not run away from any medical checkups. However, our leaders are busy traveling from one country to another for their treatment🤔

My country is blessed with so many mineral resources like Crude oil, Coal, Tin, Limestone, Iron ore, and so many more that could have helped a great deal in the proper development of my country, but all of these things are not evident in my country because our leaders are just too greedy to think for the betterment of the Country. We need a change!

The system is so corrupt that if the greedy ones notice any sign of opposition from their colleague in the system, that can hinder them from getting their pockets full to the brim, the opposing party is either eliminated or framed so as not to hold the position. Imagine somebody going for four to five terms in a roll, nobody dares him. There should be a law that will allow only one term for every individual or if you are not doing well, you should be impeached 👌 But my people has turned it to a family traditions or recycling thing that must stay within not allowing anyone else. It is shameful!

Leaving the citizens in a detrimental situation just to fulfill their greedy needs isn't an attribute we need in a leader, irrespective of how low the rank of the leader in the community is.
It is said that "Charity begins at home", this can also be related to the system of leadership. The slightest act of corruption from any part of the country plays a role in the distortion of a Nation. I feel so bad for my dear country🤔

If the leadership system of my country is free of greedy, law-opposing, and corrupted individuals, I believe my country would be more developed and more valued. We wouldn't be where we are today! Many things need to be changed but let's start from the head first because the fish can only get spoilt through the head
