Blackout and crazy day.

Yesterday it was 12:33 and suddenly everything went black. The power disappeared, which is very rare around here. Honestly, I didn't remember the last time it happened. It was also a wonderful day with good temperatures and lots of sunshine. So at first, I wasn't worried.

After a few minutes, I went out to the garden and saw a neighbor talking to another neighbor who had just arrived by car. He told him the blackout was complete across the peninsula. I couldn't believe it, so I picked up my phone to see what had happened, but this is where my concern began. I had no internet. What's more, I didn't seem to have any phone coverage either.
I'm a mother with two young children in school, so I tried calling the school, but nothing. I also tried calling my boyfriend at work, but nothing. My parents, cousins, and friends didn't answer either. Absolute silence.

I put the garage door in manual mode and headed out to school to check on them and pick them up. After five minutes of driving, I noticed the traffic lights weren't working, so I drove slowly, even though I was in a hurry, and I was very careful. Luckily, there wasn't much traffic at the time. I was low on gas, so I stopped to fill up, but the pumps were electric and didn't work. Until the third gas station, they had a generator, and I was able to refuel.
When I got to school, there was a traffic jam at the entrance; other parents had done the same thing as me. The kids were fine, although a little upset. I took them to my parents' house to check on them.

The power came back on at night, and it was a truly crazy day. We think we're very safe, but these events make you rethink a lot of things and think that I should be more concerned about my family's safety.
