Yesterday morning I had a job in Spokane to clean a water feature. No clue what I was walking into it ended up being tiny. Especially compared to what I have worked on mostly. Pressure washed it and dug out algae from the gravel, showed the owners how it all works, and had to set the column better as it had cracked off a piece of the bottom which allowed it to lol to one side. They were happy and I will have another bit to do for them later installing a new irrigation controller.
Back home I got more peas picked, not many but still the plants are producing something.
The bulk of my afternoon was spent cleaning under the carport which had become a complete mess. As I was moving cardboard I found one box had a couple giant root borer beetles that had gotten stuck.
The things are huge!
They make a wild scratching sound as they flail their arms against the wings. Safe to pick up if treated like a snake. Grab them by the body behind the head and they are not able to bite.
Eventually I got much of the area cleaned up.
I noticed a pair of fly catchers were in a tree nearby pipping and cheeping and I looked up to see their nest atop an old mini keg. Surprised the cat hasn't found them and eaten them yet. 3 little ones were inside and it was warmer so it wasn't imperative they be there to keep them warm.
I put the thing back and will watch to see if they survive. Got dinner ready in time for the boys to go to kickball.
Going to my first group ride this morning super early, then today I have to keep cleaning under the carport and then the patio, work in the garden, then figure out something for dinner this evening.
