Thunderstorm, Deluge, Rainbows, Harvests, Spider, Chiro, Clean, Deer, Owl Pellets, Blitz - Tuesday
Hell of a boom at 2:15am yesterday morning that woke me so I got a shot of the doppler. The storm blew past and dropped a bit of rain as it went. I was able to get back to sleep surprisingly.
Though I was up before 5am I did get to see the incoming storms on the horizon.
By 7am the thunder was booming up the valley as the storm sped north. The first BIG booms were from a pair of bolts right across the valley from the farm. They shook the house a lot!
Then the storms lined right up over the region and blasted us as they moved by. The thunder and lightning were awesome but the poor dog wasn't having much fun.
Nicely the power never even flashed and the boys kept getting ready for school.
Between 7:00 and 7:30 am it was just booming outside and then the rains moved in finally.
As I took the boys to school the sky just fully opened, like the bay doors on a tanker plane dropping water or retardant, it was crazy how hard it rained for all of 10 minutes.
It was a roar on the roof of the car as the rain and hail pounded down.
The double rainbows showed up multiple times as it was a wall of water falling. Then as all of a sudden the rain stopped.
We got .25" of rain in that about 15 minutes of rain... The farm was actually running water for once since it came down so fast the ground couldn't absorb it fast enough.
trust me, it's a quarter inch.
I had to let the garden dry a touch before tromping through it for the squash. I still was soaked by the time I finished the row.
My coop barn spider was out in her web. She vacillates between the upper left corner under the 2x4 header or she likes to be smack in the middle of the web.
They really are killer looking.
I then got the greenhouse picked through and the cucumbers are still poppin off.
Chiro was better this week without the insane pain, I got to roll on the table for a lot longer which helped my shoulders a good bit, though the numbness still hits at random times.
More garden herpes harvested. I really need to just yank the plant out soon so I don't get any random seeds falling from any of the tomatillos.
My poor kilt had been abused during the truck work and it had tons of oil and grease spots on the front. I took the bottle of DAWN and a brush and coated the front panel. Washed with the other greasy items they all came out looking WAY better. The DAWN did a great job of cleaning the inside of the washer as well, which was good I added the rest of my clothes to the wash then ran it again. Thankfully the storms had passed so I could hang them on the line outside to dry.
A little bit after hanging my clothes I was walking out the driveway and looked up at the pen to see these two lost little deer. No clue where they got over the fence at but they were for sure lost.
So up the hill I chased them and found them beneath the eagle nest. I chased them around a bit until they jumped over the fence and out of the pen.
After they bolted I looked down and suddenly saw EVEN MORE owl pellets littering the ground.
As I scoured around I found a whole handful of them. The load got hauled down the hill and added to the box from the day before. I now have more than enough for a class of kids so I will take them in today.
At some point in the 2 hours between the prior pic and this spider pic I broke the lens cover on my phone so it got a bit funky looking for this shot. The spider sits on the bug zapper/collector and likely is able to grab a moth as it tries not to get sucked into the fan.
Swapped the cover then headed out to the tool shed to start some DESPERATELY needed cleaning. I wasn't able to walk through it it was so trashed. This was just the half of it but it already is way better than it was.
I've finally decided to find another option to the V4V.app which has a rather unreasonable seeming minimum of 250 sats for a transaction.... That is absurd when trying to work on Nostr where a single sat can be sent... So found Blitz and it works nicely as a self custodial. V4V is killer for the conversion from Hive or HBD to sats though and I will have to have both.
Later managed a full soak for once before heading for bed.
Standard 4 am wake today, will get boys to school in a while and will take the pellets in, get to harvests early, keep cleaning in the tool shed, I HAVE to call on hay for sure but they are open tomorrow... I will dig back into the truck today as the timing cover must come off AGAIN.... Seriously FML...
