The Ick and SHIT Sleep, Race, New Chainsaw, Bar Wrap, Tools, Dog Door, Attempted Burn Pile - Saturday
I sit here this morning as I did yesterday, guzzling HOT tea, wrapped in a blanket around my robe, keeping the chills at bay while my sinuses are like a fountain. Sleep was was the worst I can remember yesterday and my Garmin showed it quite well.

NAC, Vit A and C and Guiaf to try to deal with this stupid ick. Sweating it out seems to help a bit but the shit seems to like to get worse at night.

More cycling races on early mornings. The German PDC is also on this weekend.
Art called before 8am which was SUPER good to hear his voice and he is now in St Luke's rehab clinic which is an outstanding facility in Spokane. He has a couple weeks there and I would have gone to see him this weekend except I am sick and don't want to be dragging that into a rehab clinic.

I bit the bullet and went to North 40 and got myself the Dewalt chainsaw. It is SUPER slick and nice and light so I can actually climb with it. SO MUCH SAFER than my Stihl gas power saw. Just pull the trigger and it goes, no having to start it each time. I realized I needed a charger though so that will be here today and will charge 4 at a time including my older 20v batteries. I went and tried the saw on a bunch of limbs and it is really quite nice.

My new bar tape arrived and I got that installed later in the day.
I also unpacked my tool bags and did a good sorting and tried to organize into plumbing, electrical, and general tools. It helps I have oodles of trays and bags to work with. An organized tool bag makes the jobs take less time when the tool is easily found.

Swapped out the old red for the new black cork gel. I got to move my shifters back a touch before the wrapping.

I had to build a bracket to hang the outer dog door flap from out of aluminum angle. Heavier flaps mean less chance of vermin entering around them.

Attempted to get the burn pile going but it is still so damn wet it just wouldn't stay going. Needles burn hot but they didn't burn hot enough to get the wood to flame up well. We will try it again today.

Much better sleep last night compared. Still feel like hell this morning and my face is a fountain or snot but I am watching the Tour of Flanders men's cycling race and the German Darts. Flanders is where the Fleming name originates, the Flemish region. We likely will go for a family ride to the lake and back today, keep working on cleaning in the house, attempt the burn pile, and try to get over this stupid crud.

Feel better, my friend!😇👍
Good that you got to hear from art sounds like he is recovering. He’s one lucky man!
He is "miracle man". His daughter was looking up stats on falls... ~70% of falls of 40ft are fatal, the odds of survival exponentially decrease as the height increases. There are only a very few potential ways to survive a fall of 70 feet onto a boulder and he was able to manage one.
Wow......🙄
And it sounds like he's healing quickly, I'm sure most people falling from this height, if they lived, would never be the same!!!!
We should be ice climbing this winter as long as we get a winter. His healing is quite rapid.
That's awesome to hear, and it's good that he's looking forward to climbing again!!!💪😀
He was saying that in the ICU already.
Sounds like he’s got the right mental attitude, that makes all the difference with recovery!😇👍😊
I am on my second chainsaw of that type. I am unsure if it is from running a bigger bar and full chisel chain on it but it really does not do well if it gets bogged down. I've had it de-solder the internal parts of the battery packs and also just overheat them.
I am mainly going to use it for live tree limbing. I have no need for a bigger bar or chain on it as that's what my power saw is for. My dad has not had a problem with his which he runs stock and cuts Oak with. Maybe it's the upgrades that has done it to you?
Yeah, I am thinking it is the upgrades causing the issues.
