The Great White North, Leaving ND, Super Slick Roads, Map Brewing Bozeman - Saturday
We actually managed to be on the road when we wanted yesterday morning, 9am we were heading west. The temps were all of about 10F for much of the ND part of the drive.

The traffic was just AWFUL... SOOOOOOO many cars and trucks to deal with....... LOL!

Nearing Glendive and the I94.

Then bombing west on the I94 the right lane was clear while the left kept a coating of snow over it. This became VERY important later in the drive.

Getting past Billings the road became rather shit like. The right lane ended up being a sheet of ice and every time I drove the car in the lane it felt like it wanted to slide. ALL the traffic stayed in that lane and just crept along. I on the other hand was able to do 80mph, the speed limit, as long as I was in the left lane where the snow caused traction for the tires. People just don't ever think when they are driving.

Near Big Timber area there was wrecks all over. I saw cars spun out everywhere, all 2 wheel drives it looked like, and this was the worst of a truck flipped with medical working on extraction as we passed.

Finally coming down into Bozeman the sun gave us a nice view down the canyon.

We ended up at one of our favorite places here in Bozeman, Map Brewing.

Grilled chicken burger and salad really hit the spot for me. All the driving uses a lot of mental power while the roads are such shit.

Back at the hotel we got the pool and hot tub to ourselves. And the hot tub was super hot compared to ours at home.

Up early now so we can be at the Bozeman Hot Springs near opening and get a good soak in before the 5-ish hour drive home. I'm looking forward to being finally landed back on the farm. My body is not quite as sore now so I hope to begin the truck work this week, amongst the large list of stuff I have still to do.

The snowy roads looked intense but you captured the adventure so well. Glad you still made time for good food and a relaxing soak. Safe travels back home!
The Dakota's, I have family out that way and they sent me photos of the roads this weekend. Looked pretty bad for sure. Glad you had the sense to stay on the snowy lane. Travel safe!
I remember (not fondly) a trip home to MN from visiting relatives in MT in late October. The roads became awful around Butte, and remained so all the way home. It was my job to keep three children quiet in the car so my husband could focus on driving. And that was before everybody had electronic devices with which to occupy themselves. Glad you made it through ok!
