Still Raining, Receiver Swap, 3DP, Raspberry Virus, Transplant, Head Valve Removal, Bird Swarm, Klobbered - Monday
Yesterday started out damp from the overnight rain and the doppler showed a line headed straight for us. This March was the wettest in the last 5 years of my records by over 3/4 inch of rain.
About 9:30 the line hit the region and dumped some pretty good rain for a while.
I took the opportunity to swap out the receivers. Our old one is really not nearly powerful enough for the 21 speakers I have mounted around the house. The swap was insanely good as the "new" one has twice the power and WAY more bass. I kicked on music and found a pair of the speakers that were blown, which meant I had to go find the spares.
Trying to use up the roll of PLA I printed out hands but each didn't use too much filament.
The rains had stopped and I had noticed that the greenhouse was being invaded. The raspberry plants had burrowed under and were putting off tons of shoots.
After some forking and pulling I got most of the roots removed. I was about to go throw them to the sheep when I thought better.
Down to the creek edge I went and used the fork to make the holes that I then jammed the plants into in a line. I couldn't care less if they take over this entire area. There are wild ones that grow on the other side of the creek and I have a pair of blackberry plants just to the left of these.
The next 2 sheets of hands.
It dried up a bit in the afternoon and I figured I would start taking the head apart. I grabbed a couple plastic egg cartons from the house to use as my parts separator. It works perfectly.
Then the valve springs got compressed and the wedges removed and I started pulling the parts but had to stop to go pick up J from running practice.
This sheet was finished right before I left.
As I drove north I was heading up the passing lanes and looked to my left to see an INSANE number of BIG BLACK birds all thermalling upwards in a huge mass. My mouth was agape as I tried to stay on the road. I got to the school and parked to then watch the hundreds of birds in the air. It was CRAZY!
Between those red lines was hundreds of birds which ended up turning into a giant fight. They were doing full on fighter moves as one would dive bomb into a group that would then scatter. I could only think that it was ravens and eagles fighting since as the "battle" went on groups of birds were getting chased off in various directions. 4 to 10 birds getting chased by one or two others. By the time J got in the car they had mostly dissipated.
R had wrestling practice so I had dinner ready early. The Kraken played in the evening and again started well but then ate their own assholes again. 4th worst in the entire league.... ugg. They lost of course.
Soaking was nice on my still super sore muscles. My calves are still torched this morning.
And of course a band of rain moved through as we soaked and dropped really cold really big drops on us for a bit.
Today could rain again, I'll get the boys to school for their last full day before break, finish taking apart the head and valves, replace the valve seals, brush the valves, do measurements to ensure correctness, then maybe put the head back together? I'll see how far I get. I have my chiro appointment this morning which I am looking forward to as I am still super sore.
