Woke yesterday morning to the thick smoke enveloping the region after the Spokane Fires that are still burning.
We had ash on the deck and most flat surfaces around the property.
The smoke was so thick the sun was just a dim orb.
We managed to get ourselves loaded up and then drove over the Mt Spokane hump to the Silverwood Theme park for the day. It was planned so we weren't going to let smoke stop us. We were walking in the front gate about 11:20, not too long after they opened.
We headed straight for Boulder Beach to find we for once were able to get lounge chairs and laid out our stuff to hold them for us. No one was in the water yet as it was only about 62 F outside. The smoke and cold front had brought in the cooler temps.
Se we headed to the roller coaster side and waited in the rather short line for the Timber Terror wooden coaster. Tremors is another wood coaster that is right next to Timber Terror.
R and I rode together while @stryeyz was alone and J rode with A our friend's son. The coaster is cool with lots of drops and a couple spirals. The drops felt like doing a full stall on my paraglider then the spirals felt just like a spiral on my wing. The kids were good with the one coaster and we all headed back to the water park side.
I tried to get the pic of R going down the water slide but missed the timing.
It was a tiny bit warmer in the afternoon and the wave pool got pretty full at times. I went down a couple slides and spent some time in the wave pool. People watching is always rather interesting at Silverwood.
The churro stick and soft serve that J got was really tasty and quite sugary.
It was 7pm when we were heading towards the exit and the sun was still a dim orb, just on the other horizon.
The boys played a round of chess on the way out at the huge chess set.
This was the fire map from last night. The Fairview fire is largely under control, the Old Trails fire is a lot slower, but the Autumn Lane fire is still actively burning but moving more southeast now. My session for the week is canceled as the office is the level 3 evac zone for the A/L fire.
Also this will be a week of trainer rides as the air is FAR TOO BAD to be out riding in it.
I have a job first thing this morning down in Spokane well out of any evac zone. It will be a quicker job then I have to get gas in the cans on the way home to get the chipper going today. The huge pile of branches must get reduced to limit fire danger potential.

I'm glad you were able to make the best of the Silverwood expedition. It's truly unusual to see Boulder Beach nearly deserted at that hour of the morning on an August day! But we are indeed having odd weather. If it wasn't so stinky, I'd go outside to enjoy the cooler temps.

You're probably catching the Chelan ones. The winds have been pushing that smoke towards us too. So sad, WA is on fire...
