Snow, Cold, Nelly v Paws, Fly Tying, Eggs, Krumble - Wednesday

Checked out the cams on the farm yesterday morning and saw that we had gotten a skiff of snow. I could tell it wasn't much, not nearly what fell here in ND.

I looked later in the day and it had melted quite quickly.

Most of the day was spent hanging out with the family as SIL and niece were by, then 2nd niece showed. I had taken a moment to try an egg fly I had been reading about. I took a piece of a pipe cleaner and wrapped it tight around the nymph hook. I'm rather pleased with it and it should have a nice weight with the wire of the cleaner.

Trin's dog Nelly is a puppy and she and the cat had a number of swatting sessions where Paws clawless front paws bopped Nelly's nose.

Paws seems to enjoy the sessions as he stood his ground each time.

@stryeyz took the boys to town so I kept at the flies. The eggs are super fast and they are nice little balls of varying colors.

Just trying some other flies, used some red chenille with the rooster feather.

This is a bit more of a streamer style.

Ugg, 9pm the Kraken game started..... And they were quickly down a goal.

But soon tied it.

While the game went on I got a quail feather out of the feather bag and worked on this fly.

It came out really nifty and has a realish look to it. UV glue on the head and I had to ensure the hook eye stayed open. I'm rather anxious to be back home to try these out at the river.

This yellow fly looks like it will be a solid floater with all the hackles everywhere.

They managed to tie the game into the 3rd but then got got and lost 3-2.

My last try was this nymph with the chenille and uv glue.

Thanksgiving day today and it is a balmy 10F outside, and will only move a few degrees over the day. Mid day is the meal and the 40+ people that will all be there. Nicely there is not much we want to look for on Friday, just likely a run through Menards. I'll tie a few more flies before and after the meal today.
