Skiing Morning, 3DP, Finish Burn Pile, Hike, Fire, Grilling - Friday
Yesterday morning was nice and sunny as we got loaded up and on the road north to 49N ski area. It was the first day of their spring break opening schedule and we wanted to get in some good turns before we had to be back home mid day.
As we neared the 211 the fog was super cool looking and was hanging in the valleys leading to Diamond Lake.
We got to the mountain and parked amongst the few vehicles in the lot. For a blue bird day there was hardly anyone on the mountain.
The snow was a groomer only day thanks to the rains that had hit. Anywhere NOT on the groomer was hard and not fun.
Our friends showed up a little later so J and I headed up to the top while R and @stryeyz went to chair 3.
Our first run was down Dutchman which has a pretty steep section on it.
Really Proud of J for how he was able to handle the steeps.
He took his time and made good turns, keeping his balance well the whole time.
We dropped into the basin after seeing T and missing him, then we hit the top then headed down Silver Queen back to the lodge, we rode lift 1 back to the top where J and T met up and finished the day together.
I then spent the next hour and a half riding the lift then tucking and hauling ass as fast as I could go. My high speed for the day was 57.2 mph with a few others nearly the same. Just wasn't quite able to hit the 60+ range. Next time with some good waxing I bet I can.
We were on the road home by 12:30 and home by 1:30 so I could get everything pulled out of the car so @stryeyz could go to the co-op pickup.
Mid afternoon I hauled a pile of cardboard down to the burn pile and kicked it back into flames. The branches got drug across the driveway and tossed on in batches.
It took a bit for the fire to really get going but it took off and burned through all the debris pretty well.
The branch piles are all now gone so maybe the tree company will come and finally take down the 2 trees...
Lots of branches hauled from around the farm and I kept the pile fed for the afternoon.
The printer was going with more dummy parts.
I have a true rainbow of sheets printed out.
Around the hot tub there were tons of pine needles which I hauled a wheelbarrow load over and tossed them on the burn pile.
It did a good job of turning everything to ash.
I got a fire going in the temp fire pit before we went on a hike up the hill.
The hike up the hill was nice as we got to see the early sunset. The valley is starting to pop in color now that spring is finally here.
Even buttercups are out now.
More hands sheets.
I grilled steaks on the fire pit for dinner before we went out for a needed soak.
My shoulder tweaked so the soaking was good but my shoulder is still messed up this morning. Stupid knots.
Today is R's last wrestling tournament and it is going to be a shit show since it will be way over packed with 200 extra kids there. I'm not looking forward to the insane chaos this will be.
