Skiing Day, Watercolor, Crystal Skies, RETRO GAMING! THEY LIVE!, Darts, Happy @stryeyz - Sunday

(Edited)

Yesterday morning I had to get my morning stuff done early since we were leaving for skiing at 8am. I was up early as per my norm and got my post written then got my watercolor done for the day. I am now finally signed up on #doodlewash where I have gotten the daily watercolor challenge from.

We were packed up and on the road at 8am and then to the mountain by 9am. There was not a lot of people there early so we were able to get runs in with no lift lines.

J and R were both ready to go.

IMG_20260118_091016.jpg

They had the snow making machines blasting and that was what the fog was on the hill.

IMG_20260118_091221.jpg

It was SUPER cool from the top, it was an ocean of clouds surrounding the peak. This is looking south towards the house with Mt. Spokane poking its top up.

IMG_20260118_092006.jpg

It was thousands of square miles of clouds, at least 50 miles in any direction was just cloud tops.

IMG_20260118_092010.jpg

It was really quite awesome to see all day.

IMG_20260118_092029.jpg

Very nicely the clouds were staying at the base and the entire hill was free and clear. The only problem for the day was that any run that was not groomed was a sheet of hard packed ice and not run-able. The line beneath the lift is called "Dreamline" and it would have been if we could have gotten into it but the top was gnar.

J and I slid together and hit Sunrise first thing. The ridge was super and the groomers ended up being the best snow on the mountain. It was a high speed day and I was very happy I had tossed Flouro wax on our skis.

IMG_20260118_093126.jpg

Riding lift 1 took us up and we got to see the most amazing rainbows from the snow making machines. They blast the snow up into the air which lets the ice crystal fly all around. The sun backing them made such killer views!

IMG_20260118_094809.jpg

There were NUMEROUS rainbows visible and even inverted mirrored ones all together. It was truly amazing to see each time we rode lift 1.

After a couple hours j and I had done 6 high speed runs, 3 to Sunrise and then 3 to the lodge. With no non-groomed runs in play I was good at the 10 miles of distance traveled in the 2 hours. J felt the same and it was funny that he and I headed for the car only to find @stryeyz and R there. We all had the same idea at the same time.

The hill had gotten really busy by then and the lines were rather long on the lifts. We changed, packed up, got the boys cocoas at the lodge, then headed for home with hardly any traffic to worry about. We were home by about 12:30.

I had been watching my top speed while on the hill and was trying to get 50 mph but was only able to get to 48.7 mph. At least I can go faster than my age still.

Not long after we got home Amazon delivered the the little connectors that allowed me to hook up the Atari 2600 and the Fairchild. BOTH WORK!!!!!!! This is the controller pile I have for the 2600.

IMG_20260118_132137.jpg

I have 36 Atari game carts!

IMG_20260118_132155.jpg
IMG_20260118_132203.jpg

Qbert is not an easy game still. I popped in various carts and they all worked!!! SO BADASS it actually LIVES!!!!

IMG_20260118_133947.jpg

Off an on the rest of the day I was at the board. I am managing to get the two 3x-20 more often and am not even blinking when I get 140s. If I could just get hat third dart to land...

IMG_20260118_172752.jpg

THIS is the closest I have ever grouped my darts. I was trying for the bull but ended up slamming them all into a near perfect triangle.

IMG_20260118_173035.jpg
IMG_20260118_173039.jpg

Those 3 dots were where they landed... about a 1/3 inch area...

IMG_20260118_173219.jpg

Footyball on for the afternoon and then @stryeyz got the Fairchild going and she and R played the snake game. Incredible that the machine from 1975 still works!!! And the 2600 from 1983 still works, as does the NES from 1990... Now I just need the Pong unit from childhood and to get the Sega unit working and we will have nearly a museum of WORKING retro gaming units! I even have the Commodore unit that needs a power supply... 8 BIT FOREVER!!!!!

IMG_20260118_194805.jpg

Today the boys are off school, @stryeyz works, will get my mile run done early, PDC is on, still no snow just cold, I need to clean up the retro units and remove the dust and dirt, Kraken will likely get abused by the Penguins, the 3d printer is giving me fits or maybe the filament is the problem... And I will keep trying to figure the truck out.

Stunning view the mountains my friend glad you had a wonderful time skiing!!
They say if you can learn on man-made snow you can ski anything.......
I learned to ski back in Cincinnati on 100% man made snow, then we moved to Colorado,(crested Butte / Gunnison) with Champagne powder!👍😀

I learned in Yosemite at Badger Pass where we got lots of wet heavy snow. Then while stationed in Minot the snow was ALWAYS like fluffy powder or solid ice, rarely in between. Now here we get a good mix of variety.

One of the best parts of Badger is the xc trail to Glacier Point. 21 mile round trip is generally done in 2 days but it is a groomed trail the whole way. My best friend ran the snow cat for some time in the late 90s early 00s.

That sounds awesome, my friend!👍😊
Sounds like they’re high enough to get plenty of snow!🤗
