SIV day 2, Paragliding Flight 117, 7000 Feet, Spirals, Military Plane - Saturday
Again you aren't going to get a lot of description as I am a bit pressed for time this morning. Yesterday was pretty intense but much less so than the prior day. I was to the meeting spot first in the morning and soon everyone else showed up or woke up.
We were loading the boat at 8:30.
And were getting laid out by 9:30.
I was the 3rd one up for the day and I got a full tow at max line length of 1km or 3200ft over the water which put me at over 7000 ft elevation. What the track doesn't show is the spirals I was doing. I got 3 spirals on each side in with that amount of height. I got them locked in nicely and could hold them then exit smoothly. I did a full frontal then did b-line stall before going in to land. It was SOOOOOOOO badass the feeling of the spirals. The g's push you into the harness and the wind noise turns to a buzz instead of a whoosh. So fucking awesome!
The day built fast and the wind was not the best. We had just had our last pilot in the air a short time before this massive military plane came down the lake. We all watched it go by and thanked God that none of us were in the air at that time.
We had another group with a tow setup that were there and they towed each other up a few times. That is until their tow line tangled into a 1km knot.
George is a more experienced pilot and brought his acro rig and tandem. This was him "soaring" the little edge of the lake by our launch.
The waves were too strong for good tows so we called it for the day and I was picked up. We then went back to the room before going out to eat dinner.
Super duper good dinner.
The seagulls all knew something. They were all on the ground and NOT in the air.
The boys HAD to burn energy off and did a few laps around the hotel.
A wander before bed.
Today is the last day if my SIV and I am going to go for broke. Not sure what I will do first this morning but I am first flight of the day. Going to fly my camino this afternoon hopefully, the on C glider in the group...
