Shelving Install, Bird In House, Mowing, 3DP, Flycatchers, Eagle, Peas - Thursday
My client called me at 8am yesterday morning to see if I could make it a bit early as she got an appointment moved up, so I got my tools loaded and headed north to her house. It was a quick couple tasks, the first of which was swapping out a pop-up sprinkler head as the one was not working.
Then I installed a pair of shelves for her, at a height the cat could not jump up onto. I got them centered between the window trim and the top one so that the coffee mugs she will put on will about be level with the top trim.
She was super happy with them and said they came out better than she had hoped. In all it was an hour job and I locked up when I left.
I had been home for all of 15 minutes when I heard a crash of stuff in the kitchen. I walked in to find a bird on the floor by the dog door. It looked to be a fledgling robin I think, but it could fly enough to end up behind the washer and dryer stack.
After digging it out then chasing it around the living room I finally caught the damn thing and after having the boys check it out let it loose outside. It flew off to the plum tree right away.
Next was more mowing and I got the road sides cut down. It is important for me to keep it trimmed down as it is public access and the less fire hazard I can make it the better.
Then I got the bulk of the area by the creek cut down but left the stand of oxeye daisy until the flowers are done.
It had taken a few hours but the first half of the drill bit case came off the #3dprinter. I got the second half printing but it borked at about 1/3 of the way through and I had to restart it.
I noticed the flycatchers were moving about and then realized that there are FOUR young in the nest...
No wonder the parents have been nonstop shuttling bugs to them. I thought it was just 2 but nope, the little gluttons for punishment had 4.
A little while later I headed up the hill to check on the young bald eagle and got a nice view of it perched by the nest.
It has refused to try flying yet but it should start soon.
I got dinner ready in time and we ate then @stryeyz and the boys went to the Elk kickball. The other half of the case finally finished and I got the latches printing.
The bits fit nicely in the case and holds way more than the DeWalt case I have been using for years.
I ended up out picking peas while they printed and ended up with 3.5 pounds that nearly didn't all fit in my shirt. We have about 10 pounds in the fridge right now...
The latches work great and the case is now in my tool bag.
Today I need to keep working around garden, should try and get a ride in early before heat hits, work on organizing my tools/bags better, try and keep the pain at bay, and keep an eye on the cat and what else she might bring in the house.

That's a really nice case you 3D printed.
I've had some recent bird misadventures, too. I keep the blueberry bushes swathed in bird netting so keep birds AND ground squirrels out. One bird managed to get in somehow and couldn't get out. So I opened up one end of the row and encouraged the bird to head that way. It soon flew out. Another day I found a tiny bird tangled up in that same bird netting, close to the ground. I had to fetch scissors to cut the netting away from it. It held still while I held it and snipped, but as soon as it was nearly free, it began to struggle. It flew into some tall weeds nearby and flapped around a bit before taking off properly.
