Scapes, 3 Trees, Mowing Inkler's, Paragliding Inkjler's Flights 110 and 111, Car Overheat, NHL, Fire, Grilling - Monday
Got the boys to school yesterday morning and R's growing pains hit again so we ducked out of the drop off line and ran back to the house real fast so I could get him some Ibu. Poor kid is on the shorter side now so will likely have some gnarly growth spurts heading his way.
I headed back out in the mid morning to pick the rest of the scapes from the garlic. I dug through all of them and got all that I could find. There will still be some growing that I will watch for but this makes the bulk.
I had my wing and gear ready to go at 11am when I got a call from the tree company that was here to take down the trees.
I had enough time to get the fence pulled back and the fence posts removed so they had room to dump the trees on the hillside. I left for flying and they got to work.
Drove up to Chewelah in 90F+ temps and got to the Parker lz to see no one around. Checked the group messages and saw they were at Inkler's so I headed over. I just missed them as they headed up so drove my car up, dropped my gear, then headed down to the bottom again.
On the way back up it was my turn on the lawn mower and thankfully it has powered drive since I got the super steep section of the trail. I mowed up and over the hump and then we tossed the mower in the truck and took it up to launch.
So once the launch was largely mowed and cleared Chris setup and launched for a fast sled ride then I got setup and launched for my own sled ride.
I was flying along the face back towards launch and the lz when I got a bubble of lift and tried to turn in it. I ended up making a really nice 360 and it felt super good and correct. I managed to make the turn an almost perfect circle!!!
The air just wasn't cooperating so I landed a bit past Chris.
My 360 visible in my track log. I forgot to start my Garmin for the first flight.
So then Mark launched after I landed and he got a quick sled ride in as well.
So Kim came down and picked us up and took us back to the top.
The winds were a little better and I thought the cycle might work for me so I setup and went ahead and launched. The other 3 were waiting on the cycles to get better.
I made it to the north point and turned back to the south hoping to find lift along the face.
I felt a couple bubbles and tried to turn in it but found little worth while.
I thought the rocks would have lift but nothing, just sink on the vario. So I had to choose left or right of the quarry and went right this time.
I flew towards the road and found smooth buoyant air that had my ground speed to almost zero.
I slowly floated along the road as one of the local school busses drove by underneath me.
Another nice smooth landing. It was so hot and it was about 2:30 pm so I packed my stuff up in the car and began to head for home.
So I was on my way down from the launch initially and noticed the temp gauge on the car was reading high. Then on the drive home I was heading up the hill out of Valley towards the 395 when it pegged. I coaxed the car to the intersection where I knew the church is. I got out, popped the hood, and shortly a man from the food pantry came over to check on me. I got the radiator cap off and used my water bladder to begin filling it with water. Thankfully he let me use their sink to fill my pouch 2 more times and get the radiator filled and have extra in case.
When I started the car there was a leak that looks like it is getting past the hose clamp on the hose. The car had made it since I changed the hose so I knew I could make it the 30 miles home. Which it did with no problems.
I pulled into the farm to the wondewful site of the 3 trees laying on the hillside. The 2 limbed themselves since they are long dead and the other one was in the process of dying so they proactively took it down for me. I asked them to do this so I can cut the trees up for firewood. Plus with it hot as hell yesterday I'm positive they were happy to have a less intense job.
It was SO NICE to walk into the house and the a/c....
NHL cup and Florida beat the Oilers up good. 6-1 to take a one game lead.
I got the fire going and thawed out steaks for dinner.
The t-bones went on and I had to toss mine on again for a bit, the bones never let the meat nearby cook properly.
After watching the new Rick and Morty we went out to soak, which was a bit hot.
Hah, as I sit here typing a little flycatcher popped off the window then flew up under the patio roof to the sill where they are making a nest. They are pulling materials from a pair of old nests I have sitting below them.
Today is @stryeyz and my anniversary so we will be going out for an adventure today while the boys are at school.
Tried the cam mounted on my flight deck but I need to aim it better.

Sounds like you will have lots of firewood for this coming winter!👍
Well more than I have room for most likely. I just have to wait for the cooler weather to start hacking it all up.
