Rain, Young Robin, 3DP, Garden Sprouts, Pain, Tree and Bush Trimming, Storm Cell - Monday

The rain had passed overnight and yesterday morning we had right on a half inch of rain from the storm. It cleared the dust off everything and made the farm look a lot nicer.

We got bouts of sun during the day as the clouds kept streaming over.

I was on my way out to the mailbox and as I got past the gate a pair of birds were flying around. The young robin was learning to fly and the parent was all uppity and chattering away at me. The little one glared at me as I got a bit closer then flew off into the maple tree. The adult wouldn't shut up the whole time.

Reprinted the base and post for the bracelet stand and this time I flattened one side of the post so it printed laying down. This makes it stronger due to the direction of the shear lines.

The garden has sprouted in most all the rows. The greenhouse has tomatoes and cucumbers popping.

Then the radishes are growing nicely in the potato rows.

IMG_20250512_123147.jpg

Green beans are looking good.

IMG_20250512_123253.jpg

And the peas are doing okay but a good bit smaller than the beans.

IMG_20250512_123259.jpg

Trying to find brake handles for my paraglider I printed these out as well as a hook knife design I found.

IMG_20250512_130248.jpg

The hook knife is pretty slick and I glued the two halves together to make it solid. It works okay and does cut. Much cheaper than the $15 for one online.

IMG_20250512_132526.jpg

So I scaled the handles up since the first were too narrow to fit the webbing of the handle. I tried them on but found the square parts don't feel good against my hand and I need to find more rounded ones, preferably thinner.

I swapped out to ABS since I was low on PET red and went and printed the other handles. Figure someone else may be able to use them so should have the set made.

The boys were home from school and R had grabbed a rake to rake the grass I had cut across the creek. I ended up grabbing my pruning saw and headed down to hack and slash at the trees. I cut out a good bit before but this time I really went at the tree and cut all the branches up so they are no longer hanging on the ground.

IMG_20250512_162152.jpg

The boys stacked the branches I cut.

IMG_20250512_162156.jpg

We managed a lot of clearing and I really want the space between flora and potential fires to be solid. As green as it is there is not a HUGE chance, but I'd rather be prepared and not take the chances.

The goal became making a path to walk all around the central tree trunks which I managed to accomplish. So much dead in the trees but it is now in piles that will get hauled across the creek to the burn pile.

The boys are stoked on their jungle gym. R was doing pull ups on the various branches and they excited for the branch seats of the horizontal branches.

I got dinner made while watching the Caps get beat up by Carolina and then not long later we had a cell come through that DUMPED for a few minutes then poof, it was gone.

Finally out to soak which helped my back a little but still needed the muscle relaxer to sleep. Chiro today thankfully.

This morning I will go for labs draw then go to the chiro where I will hopefully be able to beat myself back into shape. My harness is in the mail and will be here by Thursday, I am SUPER excited for it. I'll get the boys to school in a bit, try to make brake handles for the glider, and try to keep my body from spasming and locking up.
