Woke to a bit of rain in the gauge yesterday morning which was nice to see and well needed for the region.

My morning was then spent GLUED to the X-Alps since it was the closest race in its history. The top 4 were all so close to each other but Aaron Durogati managed to get out in front and took a different line than the other 3 which put him to the final turn point about 10 minutes before and got him the WIN!

The new rule this year is he just had to hit a 200 meter circle of air space around the final turn point to decide his placement. This is the first new winner of the race in 16 years!

It was frenetic for everyone as the pilots then flew down to land on the float in Zell Am See. Tarquin got himself and the cameras completely covered in champagne.

It was SUPER cool to see Maurer's old supporter beat him and get 2nd place. Lars kicked so much ass for a rookie! Look at that flight that Simon and Criegel got! Truly incredible ending for the top 4 and closest ever finish.

After the excitement of the race winners and the astonishing views in the Alps I went out to actually do something with my day. I got the mud guard installed on my bike and it works pretty well. I was able to position it pretty close to the tire but far enough away it doesn't hit it.

I had noticed the trees by the creek had popped a ton of new growth after I had trimmed them back. So I took the machete and hand saw down to hack a bunch more back.

I'm gradually hacking larger branches back to better open up the area beneath the canopy.

IMG_20250622_134958.jpg

It's hard to tell how much I got done but there is a lot more space amongst the trunks. I hope to make enough space to get a bench made and set in there.

The pile of branches shows better how much was cut out. Still need to haul them away today.

Went for a wander up the hill to the launch and did a bit of debris clearing, getting the pine cones and sticks tossed aside.

Then the real storm hit in the later afternoon. It came out of the north and rained gently at first then went into downpour mode.

I got the fire going in the pit before it hit and had enough coals left to grill our steaks for dinner.

Lol, @stryeyz had me find Encino Man to watch while it rained. I forgot a lot of that movie and the shit Brendan Fraser did/was put through. One thing I can never forget is Paulie Shore and his "HEEEEYYY BUUUUUDDDY" and "the weaselllllll". Seriously how did Mitzy allow him to turn into that?

The rain fell harder while we ate.

Then near 7:30 it really unleashed.

J was out at studio A when it let loose and he got totally soaked on the short run back to the house.

We were completely lucky the storm passed JUST in time for us to go out and soak.

Rain still floating around the region so no flying today. I will work in the garden, if it dries out will cut grass, wash clothes, maybe bike ride with the boys, cleaning around the farm and in the house.

Mud guards are so nice on your bike!👍😊
I really don’t understand why more bikes don’t come equipped with them! Everyone gets covered with slop when it rains!🙄
