RAIN, Winterization, 3DP, Garlic Dibble Roller WORKS, The Great Garlic Breaking Day 2650 Cloves, Wreck, Kraken - Saturday

It was a rain day yesterday but that didn't stop me from getting work done. The real rains hit later in the day and I managed a bit of time in the earlier part of the day that was slightly dry and allowed me to get to my client's house.

I didn't need a terribly large amount of tools but still stopped in the shed to grab my big pliers. @stryeyz and the boys went to the craft fair then to a birthday party after so were to be gone much of the day.

Of all the houses on the street, of which there are 5, only this one has a properly constructed water feature as it was done by the company I worked for. Dan's been my client for 15 years now and we have his landscaping really well dialed in. It was time to pull the pump and drain the irrigation lines which is a pretty simple process. I was headed for home then but ended up just about coasting into the farm as the sled had run out of coolant... Not sure why.

I got home to find the brackets had printed out nicely. I got the sled radiator filled back up and test ran the engine which seemed fine.

It was Noon and I got my last garlic shipment delivered.

I had a window of no rain still so I grabbed my dibble roller and put it to work. I'm rather impressed with it and a major point is the soil needs to be moist for it to work right.

I'm kinda cramming them together but need to for the number I want to plant.

IMG_20251011_120101.jpg

Then to the original spot. In all of it I managed to make 2360 holes.

IMG_20251011_120358.jpg

12:45 I hauled the case of garlic in the house from the cooler.

IMG_20251011_124518.jpg

Then began the 7 hour process of breaking apart all the bulbs.

IMG_20251011_124526.jpg

The Montana Giant garlic sure do live up to their name. This is one bulb.

As I stood breaking the garlic Jax and I heard a boom but then I thought little of it as I was busy. Then I saw the alert come up on my phone and ran out to see the aftermath of the accident.

The red car pulled out and hit the side of the jeep that was going highway speeds. You can tell by how far away the jeep is from the car. This puts us at about a dozen accidents this year at this exact spot. Really for no reason since you can see for a half mile in either direction.... STUPID HUMANS!!!!

For the next 7 hours I stood at my table and broke bulbs. The PDC was on so I watched the matches.

The rain really hit for the afternoon which was fine as I had my work cutout for me. I also took a bit of time to work on the shotgun mount which ended up coming out great using the brackets I had printed earlier.

These printed really well and are great little sorting trays that can pour.

Scaled a couple down as well for the next run.

IMG_20251011_194536.jpg

HOLY SHIT! SO SORE! SO MUCH GARLIC! I managed to get 18 of the 22 varieties busted apart and counted. I had 2654 cloves counted and still the 4 left for today.

IMG_20251011_200335.jpg

The Kraken came on and it took a bit but they managed to get up on the Knights.

IMG_20251011_201902.jpg

I hadn't heard from @stryeyz so figured out something to eat for dinner then managed a bit of time at the board for once. so close to the triple double!

IMG_20251011_205238.jpg

So turns out I had to go pick them up so got the sled to actually drive and made up there. Drove us home in her car and left the sled to pickup this afternoon.

IMG_20251011_215155.jpg

Another shell holder was done when we got back. It took far too long to fall asleep then.

IMG_20251011_220607.jpg

Today I should start planting garlic and need to figure out where I will put another 700... We are going to the museum in Newport since it's their last day open and we want historical info on our farm. Will stop to get the sled on the way home. I have to break the last 4 varieties of garlic, PDC final is on, and Seahawks play.

Looks like you will have a bumper crop of garlic, my friend!💪😊
Glad you caught the Subaru low on antifreeze before anything happened!
Some of the models I have owned seem to need a top up of antifreeze every week or so.,..

Finished the last 4 types and ended up with over 4000 cloves total but 3548 are possibly plantable and I mapped out planting 3001 which will leave me with a bunch of left over seed garlic to be eaten.
