Rain, SIV COURSE!, 3DP, PDC, Mowing and More Mowing, RAMFEST, Community Event - Thursday

I'm calling time on the storms! Seriously we have had enough rain as more was inbound yesterday morning. It didn't look to be as bad as other storms and was moving pretty slow so I wasn't too concerned about it effecting my day, but still!

I got the email back from my paragliding instructor and I am signed up for my SIV course July 11-13 by Helena Montana where I will get towed up over a lake to about 4k feet then will have Andy in my ear on the radio guiding me through the various extreme maneuvers. Things like full collapses, full stalls, wing overs, spirals, rapid descent techniques, and many more hopefully. I have some serious work to do before then to get my head ready for the exposure and trust the harness better.

The bottom didn't do perfectly on this so J has some work to do to get it to properly slide through.

IMG_20250522_070738.jpg

It began sprinkling and continued to do so most of mid day.

Screenshot_20250522-093624.png

Printed out a lockpick set just to see. I don't know that they will work at all but I've had the files so wanted to try.

It went together right and folds well, but the tools are rather flimsy and likely would just break off in a lock...

PDC was on and the finals at the O2 are set now with Luke, Luke, Asp, and Price. The Dutch Darts Championship is on this weekend now.

The rain was weirdly light most of the time and I had pulled the mower out earlier in hopes of running it around. I finally gave in and went out while the clouds very lightly spit.

Screenshot_20250522-122304.png

I got the sides of the road dealt with which is always important as it is public access and the less fire-prone materials available the better.

IMG_20250522_132338.jpg

Then I did my pattern across the really sparse growing grasses by the driveway and lower garden.

IMG_20250522_134539.jpg

Then the other side of the driveway.

IMG_20250522_135222.jpg

The last area was across the top of the lower garden then down both sides and along the bottom. I was hot and needed food so I called it for the day. I'm going to get the boys set on the task to work on the rest of the areas today.

The hardest rains hit then which was not that bad at all.

IMG_20250522_145312.jpg

We got a whole .02" over the day...

It was RAMFEST at the high school so we went up at 5 when it was starting.

IMG_20250522_170316.jpg

Some seriously awesome cars in the show. Says it's factory #5 but that would make it worth likely half a million or more and likely not to be just set out for us to oogle like this. Fully Original Cobras are VERY far and few between, this is most likely a "Factory 5 kit" and probably worth up to $100K.

THIS HAD ME!!!! Blown and nitro!!! What a purely amazing engine, such pretty! such WOW!

IMG_20250522_171129.jpg

This is the same thing I would see most weekends as a kid going to the nostalgia drags in California in the 90s.

IMG_20250522_171139.jpg

Being there at the start we headed for the food trucks first and still had a long wait, but the lines just got longer as the evening went on.

IMG_20250522_172346.jpg

We ate then wandered the vendor booths. The kid who has 3DP stuff at the craft fair had his table setup. I wanted an idea of his pricing for the various articulated toys. Gives me and idea for pricing our stuff.

IMG_20250522_174934.jpg

J was at the guard table waiting for his turn at the test. Sprint, drag the weight, shuffle, carry the weights, then sprint.

IMG_20250522_182833.jpg

He got 3 minutes exactly. It worked him rather hard, that's for sure.

IMG_20250522_182840.jpg

R was waiting for the soccer ball kick and he did pretty well. He nearly got the high score for his grade, missed by only a little.

IMG_20250522_183345.jpg

The vendor booths were setup in long rows and we wandered them a bit before we headed out. The lines were all super long and we were happy to have been there earlier. Both boys saw oodles of their friends all around and we saw many people we know.

IMG_20250522_183752.jpg

Home in time to see Florida destroying Carolina so kicked the game off and went to soak.

IMG_20250522_200255.jpg

We have to ok for flying Inkler's today so I will be heading up mid day for a flight or 2. I'm wanting some good soaring in my pod and under my wing as I need the practice badly. Mowing will be getting done, PDC is on all weekend, the tinsel needs to go into the cherry trees, then I will likely grill for dinner tonight.

Paragliding flight training in Montana sounds intense!😮
How does your wing react to a full stall?

No clue yet in the air but on the ground I can actually put it in stall where my old wing wouldn't.

What beauties! I absolutely love classic cars – they have something modern ones often lack: soul, character, and of course, stunning style. I used to dream of a ‘76 Mustang – that engine roar and body line are just incredible! Then I fell in love with the first edition of the Skoda Octavia, and to this day I have a soft spot for the Polish Warszawa – a real piece of history on four wheels. Amazing photos and such great memories – thank you for sharing them!

I'm sure you've seen the meme of the colors and styles of cars from the 60s/70s compared to now, all bright and various then and now bland and the same looking. The muscle cars were the best, when cars were made to last for ever, made of metal, could be easily worked on, and didn't track our every move. Thankfully there are oodles of people keeping them restored and running.

Absolutely agree with you! There was so much soul in those older models – bold colors, unique designs, and that satisfying sound of a real engine under the hood. It’s amazing how cars back then were built to last and not to spy on us! I'm always happy to see enthusiasts keeping those beauties alive – it's like keeping a piece of history on the road.
