Rain, School Conferences, 3DP, Pump Search and Research, 1 Hr - 14 Mile Trainer Ride, Irrigation Prep - Thursday

Woke to it still raining yesterday morning but I was stupid sore overnight so slept like shit. Woke up constantly and tried the couch to see if the pain would abate. Back to bed for a bit then just got up. This was the doppler once I finally did get up.

By 7am we had 2/3" rain in the gauge and thankfully not much else fell over the day.

We had both boy's school conferences to go to and J's was as we expected, easy. He is a brilliant kid and has more trouble dealing with the level of the other kids in his classes than he does the learning. He gets most everything on the first explanation. The teachers enjoy having an "adult" mind in their classes as he gets their struggle with the more difficult kids.

Stopped for gas between meetings.

R's was also good especially now that the difficult kid is being moved to a new class which will REALLY help R be able to concentrate better. Both are doing exemplary in their school work and testing.

R has a birthday party at the skating rink today and the girl LOVES crabs so I printed out a small platoon of them to go with the couple much larger ones printed earlier.

Mid morning I pulled the pump out of my trunk and pulled the pipe off. The check valve flap broke off inside so I busted it into pieces to get it removed. I then took the pump into town to Horizon.

Which is the best irrigation supply house in Spokane, in my opinion. I have used them for nearly two decades now. The pump is no longer in warranty and the only one they had in stock that would potentially replace it is $825. This is at least the 5th pump I have installed in this water feature since it was built in about 08. They are submersible pumps that sit in chlorinated water features and end up lasting maybe 3 to 5 years before locking up. I am now in research mode trying to figure out if converting to a pool pump will be cheaper and last longer, which I am sure will be the case. I have a doc built with the options I am finding.

Once home I put the PDC on and then got on the trainer for an hour ride, my longest on it yet.

Still figuring out the trainer as I found I have to tell it every time that I want free ride or else it puts 10-20% on it which makes it much harder to get up to speed. Now I know and can make sure that is a part of my starting. I prefer free ride when on the trainer since I have hills all around the farm I can ride when not on the trainer. Inside I can do fast tempo work and outside climbing and descending.

I'm over 1/3 of the way to my 1k mile goal...

In the evening I had to go get the parts together for the job this morning. I will be up planting 4 fruit trees then running drip irrigation to them. It should only take me a couple hours at most.

This morning I will get the trees planted and drip ran, then will pick R up from the skating rink birthday party, work on the pump research, get a ride in, try and work in my garden and check up on the garlic and greenhouse.
