Rain, Predawn Grain Run, 3DP, Man Utd, Timing Tensioners, Truck, Kraken - Sunday
Woke to rain again yesterday morning as I got ready to go to town for grain. Between the prior day's snow and rain and the overnight we ended up with a healthy .4" of rain.
Without my truck it meant the car had to tow the trailer and it did a good job. The nice part with the grain runs is that I dump the barrels into the trailer and am not hauling them which made life a lot harder.
I arrived at the brewery about 6am to find the 4 barrels with only 2 completely full.
It didn't take me long to have them emptied out into the trailer with a bit still warm enough to steam in the cool air.
Headed home in the still dumping rain and the traffic ended up a lot more than I expected for a Sunday morning.
Got the [printer going early with a couple of the gliders.
The grain had to get emptied and the car is no where near as good in the yard as my truck. It meant I could only get backed so far into the pen and just had to empty the grain there after I spread it over the pole harden.
NEW CASTLE WON! Suck it Liverpool! First time in 70 years!
Then Man Utd came on and holy shit they actually did something for about the first time this season. It helps they finally played a team worse then them. Leicester set a record with the game of the only team in history to lose 7 home matches in a row with zero goal for. LOL. Sounds like a Man Utd type of record.
HOLY SHIT this PLA is trash. I barely managed to get this single sheet printed. The printer HATES the filament and is refusing to print right for anything else.
I was expecting them to do something idiotic like normal but they managed to get more goals.
And did finally win a match. It drags Utd up to 13th and still in bottom half of table.
I had to finally just take the exhaust sprocket off of each cam to get the new timing tensioners installed. All 3 went in, I released the pins, then put everything back together again.
I hauled the battery over and started the engine once more to hear the sound STILL FUCKING THERE!!!!!!! Now it is even more consistent than it was before.
MOTHER FUCKER!!!!!
SO.... there is only so much that rotates in the timing area... Sprockets, the chains, the cams, the oil pump, the crank.... The sound is right on top by the exhaust cam on the driver side. The chain 3 on the driver side is really lose feeling and the main chain has a bit of play to it as it sits on the intake cam gears. New chains is $200. There's nothing else in the front top end that I can do then other than break into the head....
After giving up on the shitty PLA I tossed in PET-G and ran Dummy parts that I knew! would work... That was until R unplugged the power strip for the printer but thankfully it resumed once powered back on.
The Kraken played in the evening and I had little to no hope for them to even get a goal but in a surprise they were on point pretty well.
They even managed to get up 2-0 in the first.
But it didn't take long into the 2nd for the game to be tied. In the end they lost in overtime but that is actually doing REALLY good against the best team in the league. So far the trades seem to have kicked the players in the asses and they are actually trying now.
I have to figure out the PLA problems and why the filament keeps getting mushed into the top of the nozzle and making a big blob that won't feed.
Got out to soak as the game was ending and made it back inside to see they lost.
Today I'll get the boys to school, fix my ski binding, take the bindings off R's old skis, try and figure out my truck problem, then I will get the beef cooking in the afternoon to have ready early as R has practice tonight.

Sounds like the truck is being a pain. I hope you find what is causing the noise, my friend.!🤔
There is only SO much that is moving in there. I guess eventually I'll change the right thing and it might be fixed. I just didn't want to have to pull the timing cover again since that means draining and removing oodles.
As a teenager, I used to drag race so I know motors…..
But it gets to the point where you don’t want to tear anything apart anymore Lol!😇🤣😊
My Dad is a master engine builder with numerous champion drag builds but he is in California and can only help via phone.
What's the old saying, "if all other options are wrong the only remaining must be the answer"? or something like that... I looked it up it's, "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." How I'm trying to look at this motor.
Excellent way to diagnose engine problems!👍😊
You will find the answer, my friend!💪😊
