Predawn Grain Run, PT, Frost, Harvest, Squash Plants, Shed Roof, PDC, Pine Needles, Moon - Monday
5 am I was on the road to town yesterday morning for a load of grain I had put off for too long. I was a bit surprised by the amount of traffic that was out but it calmed as I got further into the city.

The moon was super bright to the west.

The two barrels sat awaiting my arrival.

It didn't take long to get them both loaded and then I got to take a wholly different route from normal. I headed straight north and managed to get to my PT appointment 15 minutes early. So I sat in the car for a bit until I could head in.

I will say that I really like the 6am appointment time!

I had the car and trailer stuffed into the corner to try and be out of the way of people parking.

First frost of the season was not too bad. Coldest is always right before dawn so a couple hours was full freeze level. It was enough to thwack the squash plants though.

The sun is getting lower now and the trees will be blocking it for much of the next 6 months....

The grain got hucked into the sheep pen and across the ex-pole garden where the birds dove into it.

Out in the garden the squash plants showed the damage from the cold.

In the greenhouse I ended up finding a plethora of tomatoes, a bunch had popped off the vines so have minimal color but went to the house.

The pumpkin patch had to finish getting pulled and hauled and I managed to get it all on the cart in one go.

The sheep took a bit to mosey on over and dive in.

I actually had a piece of plastic exactly the right size for the garden shed roof. I hauled the ladder up then flaked it out over the top and then tied each corner down.

I used a rock and twine on each corner.

A clove hitch over the plastic wrapped rock gives a solid anchor point on each corner.

Tied down this will get me through winter and protect the bee hive inside.

Seriously, I think this may be Barney's last season, he just isn't able to hang anymore.

In the afternoon I hauled the rakes out to the dead end where the pine trees had douched needles everywhere. I raked them into a line then into piles to be hauled to the garden to cover the garlic over winter.

It's quite nice to have the regular source of clean needles each year to "harvest".

The rains brought out the fungus amongus.

Just caught the sun before it went below the horizon.

J grilled sliders on the Blackstone for dinner while I prepped the dressings.

Took till 7:30 to deliver but I finally got the velcro for the ammo holder.

Got out to soak for a bit a bit late but the moon was again crazy bright and cool looking.

Today is another busy day. Boys to school, chiro appt, work around the farm, pickup R after school then head to Colville for J's cross country meet.

Looks like you’re having cooler mornings, we are nowhere near a frost yet over here……
