Pepper/Cucumber Plants, Mowing, Peas, Weeding, Creekside Clearing, New Phone - Tuesday
Of course I had to wait till the hottest day to work in the greenhouse yesterday morning. I got out there before 10am but it was already quite warm inside and the first thing I did was cage the pepper plants. I find the cages work best for them over tomatoes.
Then I moved to the cucumbers which required the bottom wire installed then twine tied to the top purlin for each spot. I trimmed the plants back so they have no side runners and just the main stalk then tied them to the twine with twist ties. By the time I got done with the row I was sweating pretty good, and it was only 10am.
Trying to beat the worst of the heat I then hauled the mower out to the road to cut back the sides now that everything is drying out quickly. I like to keep it cut back since people will park along the road at times and I find trash left, but this helps reduce the fire risk.
It was after noon and well over 90F already which was when I shouldn't have been picking peas since they were all a bit limp from the heat. Still I got a handful that went to the fridge with the others that helped them regain some moisture.
I was headed out to grab the Amazon packages when I noticed a number of weeds still in the spud rows so I stopped and pulled them before grabbing the packages.
Later in the afternoon it was near 100F and I grabbed my hedge shears and the pruning saw and headed for the creek in my sandals. The creek edge has been over grown by the trees and various weeds. The cool water was rather nice though I did work hard enough to get pretty hot.
SUPER happy to see my blackberry plant doing so well. This is the one I got right near Tiger Mtn some years ago that has managed to naturalize to the spot. It has made it through our winters on this side. In another surprise the blackberry plant I brought from my childhood home in California is ACTUALLY surviving as well!!!
The saw was key as the roots along the creek had tons of thick volunteers that had to be cut.
It really opens it up now so we have a much better view of the creek and it allows the plants we want to grow space.
I did find that we have a nice stand of elderberry that is now growing out of the creek. It had been hidden amongst the trees so I cut all the extraneous away to allow it space to grow better.
I'm still not very happy about the fucking UPS delivery. I waited around the farm all day when I SHOULD have been up in Chewelah flying with the club, but NOOOOOOOOOOO I had to fuck off all day waiting until 6pm which was bullshit since no signature was actually required. Really really annoying. Eventually our phones arrived.
The new camera is WAY WAY better and I'm looking forward to playing with it today. Got a short soak thanks to my shitty skin. Spent the next hour or so working on setting up my phone before crashing and getting a pretty shitty night of sleep.
Did NOT sleep well last night and was up way too early this morning. Getting my phone finished setting up now while writing this. It's to be another hot day but a bit cooler than yesterday. I have to deal with the tomatoes in the greenhouse this morning first thing before the heat sets in, pick anything that is ready, the cut brush needs to be hauled to a pile, R's room continues the slow cleaning, more mowing, then will hook the trailer up this evening for the grain run tomorrow morning.

Enjoy the new phone, my friend!🤗👍
It’s always annoying to have to wait for deliveries!🤔
It's hard work to make a greenhouse and decorate it with greenish plants and trees, the veggies are important and reduce the kitchen expenses.
