PDC, Utd, 3DP, Brunch, Flowers, The Big Burn Pile Fire - Sunday
Woke up yesterday to a much nicer day than the prior. The boys took their naturally forever time to wake up during which I had the PDC and the Utd match on. The PDC was FAR better than Utd and the waste of space they are being.
Lol!
The printer has been having fits trying to print a damn Pikachu planter pot so I ran a few test prints to try and diagnose the problem. At one point the printer speeds up to full speed and kicks itself off x/y axis by a lot. Slowing it down seemed to help.
In a surprise Utd managed to get a pair back but still lost in grand fashion 4-3.
@stryeyz wanted to go out for Mother's day brunch this weekend instead of next when EVERYONE will be. So we went up to Backroads and had a good meal before heading back to the farm.
Managed to get one to print, not the greatest, but it printed. Lots of tinkering to try and get the setting correct still.
Tried the brummel hook locks but I'm not a fan of how tight they are.
Mid day I went for a wander up the hill to check for feathers and found the flowers are all in full bloom.
The PDC final was awesome! I really can't stand Gilding and Anderson is like a happy leprechaun on the stage and he destroyed Gilding to defend his Grand Prix win from last year.
R needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap he is so accident prone. The kid was out riding his bike on the road and ate it good. We were standing by the deck when he came screaming up onto the deck holding his head in one hand, his shoe in the other, and he was freaked out about the blood coming from his head.
He had been riding with one hand and hit a bump and endo'd over the handle bars hitting the back of his head and getting a nice couple of scrapes. Why he didn't have his helmet on....? He is fine but can't seem to stop hurting himself.
I finally got the bug and hauled a bunch of cardboard over to the base of the sheep pen hill where there has been tons of wood debris for years. I got the fire started and it took off with a quickness.
The hillside has been covered in downed wood and debris that I began hucking on the pile. The flames got up near 20 feet tall a few times.
Everyone else came out then and we all worked to gather more to toss on the pile. It makes it rather nice with the hillside as gravity does much of the work.
Stumps, logs, decaying wood stuffs, the roots of the stumps even were burning. The radiating heat was really intense.
The heat was such that it had a stump steaming uphill which eventually caught on fire. So I added more wood to it to help get the stump burning.
It got going pretty well and did a good job on burning the smaller stump.
We eventually had a third fire going on another small stump just uphill. By this point it was almost 5pm and I was torched, well maybe not torched but worn out is a better term. We let it burn and went for the house.
R in his infinite wisdom decided to climb the chokecherry to get something off the top of the wood cover, after he hurt himself multiple times during the day...
J is working on printing a coin sorter that he wants to make motorized instead of hand crank turned.
Out to soak but a shorter one. I was worn out.
I slept for shit last night, woke up at 1:30, 3:00, then 4:30 and just got up then. Drove over to the post office at 5:30am this morning and got my wing which now sits here next to me. I will get the boys to school in a while, then I will pull my wing out and maybe kite a little in front of the studio, will keep the fire going with more debris from the hillside, get the printer going on more parts, the weedeater HAS to get going to hack back the forests of grass, then I will pick J up from his last running club this afternoon and then we have our Flying Club meeting tonight in town.

wow Your day is very busy, Am curious do you take quick naps when the kids are out or sometime in the afternoon? after a long hectic day ?
I can't take naps, I won't sleep at night otherwise.
ohhhhh i see.
Nice fire, my friend!👍😊
My kind of bonfires Lol!🤗
I learned my rules for bicycling early. Wear jeans, not shorts. Unless it's smooth pavement, both hands stay on the handlebars. Stay loose enough to adjust to bumps, ruts, mud, and rocks. Yes, some blood was shed to learn that. But not much. I learned fast.
He's pushing his limits and paying the price. I did much the same at his age as I launched myself off the front hill and landed in the buckbrush bushes below. I eventually learned to land it and NOT hit the spiny brush. R is the kid that HAS to learn the hard way it seems...
