It was disgusting yesterday morning. I was awake at midnight but the temp was still 75F outside. Then at 4am and it was still 70F outside but in the house it was 77F. I opened everything up and outside got down to 66F for a short bit at dawn and I only managed to get the house down to 72F...
Pogi threw down on the tour stage 19 climb. It's great seeing Kuss doing so well, a few Americans are near the front regularly now.
Mid day I had to go fix a mistake I made. That half union coupler ended up popping loose. I had not tightened it down super tight due to not wanting to crack the pvc since it is a bit older. That allowed the pipe to slide out. It was a quick fix and I have a new client who is happy to have me as her handyman.
I pulled into the property to find my bike waiting for me!!! Way earlier than UPS said it would be here.
My new steed. It is BADASS! It's the XDS X-Lab RS5 that came with a dual side power meter. I went right to work setting it up.
It was 100F but I still went out for a "quick" ride. I was just going to the end of the road, not even to the 395 intersection. I was about 1/2 a mile from where I intended to turn around and I got a flat rear tire...
SERIOUSLY!? My first ride and a flat and me without a spare tube YET... They are delivering today.
So that meant a 4.8 mile walk home. Not fun in cycling shoes and the heat. I think my steed was testing me. I didn't get mad, just resigned myself to the long walk and headed for home.
I did manage to ride a little bit, very slowly, on the downhills. I pushed myself as far over the handlebars as I could and rode the brakes so as not to put too much pressure on the rear and kept it slow to not impact the rear rim on bumps.
Thankfully the new tubes will be here today as I have the 50 mile ride tomorrow morning. I may have to drop the seat a cm or so and maybe forward a bit on the rails, but otherwise it feels super comfortable to ride. Power meter paired right away with my Edge and it's really cool to see the balance metrics.
Retired my OCR C3 after 4 months and 1283 miles ridden on it.
Cooler this morning thankfully. Tour stage 20 is on right now, PDC will be on at noon, I have garden work to do, lots of stretching and Theracaning to get my body ready for tomorrow morning, hopefully we are at the beginning of Amazon's delivery today so I can get the new tube in the tire and get a few more miles recovery ride in, and then I want to grill this evening for dinner.

Wow, congratulations on that new steed. I really like those flat handlebars!
I havenβt been able to watch much of the Tour de France, but it has certainly been tough and dramatic. So theyβre heading into stage 21, right? If thatβs the case, it seems set to be a spectacular one, judging by the predictions!
Yeah I really like the handle bars, the parallel to the ground angle is so much better and are easier to move down to.
Pogi has it wrapped up most likely. It could just be a victory lap stage for him. I was stoked to see a few Americans competitive in stages, most teams are primarily Euros.

What helmet are you using? I can't see much from the yellow liner, but I assume you picked something good instead of a Wal-Mart special.
It's a Bell with Mips. Much of my kit has been kinda entry level-ish as I needed to determine if I was going to actually stick with cycling this time. It works for now but I will eventually upgrade it. The bike was the big one to upgrade first.
MIPS makes a big difference regardless of the price point and brand. It seemed like Specialized had a good value for money last time I was looking up helmets and comparing those with bike brands to those with helmet-focused companies. Of course, that can change fast as new products emerge.
Price is widely variable as well. There are $300+ helmets down to $20. There is some standardization but not universally. Amazing there isn't a law about quality and standards, seems to be one for everything else in life.
