My first job was on the south hill and I had to stop at North 40 to pickup a couple hose bibs. I got a 1/2" and 3/4" as I didn't know what size I was to be replacing. I was surprised that the traffic wasn't horrible and I also realized that Washington to Bernard was a fast way up to the south hill. Been some time since I was regularly driving the city for work so kinda forgot.

Nicely the homeowner knew how to turn the water off to the bib and I got it swapped out first thing. The old one was a quarter turn bib that was leaking so I put in a standard turn bib that seats much better and is far less likely to leak. I then had a pair of rotors to deal with after the concrete guys moved them. Replaced one and moved the fitting by hacking the line shorter. Thankfully I had 3/4" clamps. It made me realize I need to stock up on some 3/4" poly parts and pipe for future jobs.

It always makes me happy when I give a customer the total for the job and they give me the, "tsk, that's not enough". WELL alright, THANK YOU! She wrote me a great review on Thumbtack.

It was only 9:45 so I headed back home to have an hour where I was able to eat before heading out to my next job at noon.

I really don't like these check valves, I much prefer the inline ones that get buried in the ground. She was having trouble getting the system to work as the check valve would just blast water out from beneath the black cap. After searching my memory back 15 years ago when I dealt with these more often I realized that it was just an air lock between the check valve and the zone valves in the box below.

I then went through all 4 zones and made sure the sprinklers were aimed right. I had to replace a few nozzles and installed a popup on one.

I may end up doing some reseeding in the bare strip of grass if she is unable to get the city to toss some extra sod down for her when they do the part that "they are responsible for" from the curb to the meter box. The hope is she can schmooze them into using 6 or 8 rolls to cover it then there would just be patching the bare spot holes which is more simple than seeding the larger gravely area.

I was home about 2pm and my afternoon was then spent in the shade of the chokecherry trees processing garlic. I started with the top of my list and began working down. Cut the top and roots off of each head and try to remove stuck on dirt. Toss it in the bucket then count it into the bag.

I got through 3 varieties and about 400 heads. The bags are in the house now but I still have tons more to get through. It is a good heat of the day task when I can use the shade.

This morning I have my session, possible rain or sprinkles is moving in, need to move tools under cover, I will get more garlic processed, maybe go for a ride, work in garden, and more mowing or weedeating needs to be done to let the heat dry the cut out fast. Then this evening I take the boys to town to meet @stryeyz for VBS.
