Grain Run, Sunrise, DRIVING, Trencher, Trenching, Gate, Parts, Alpaca, Mouse, 10 Years- Wednesday

Holy shit that was a day yesterday. 4:30am I was on the road to town to pickup the grain.

The twilight was nifty and colorful to the east.

Grain loaded I headed for home.

The clouds and sunrise was really cool looking.

I got home, emptied the grain right away and disconnected the trailer. I then took @stryeyz to work, then the boys to school, then hooked the trailer back up again and drove down to the east Spokane Home Depot to rent this trencher.

By a little after 9am I was unloaded and mapping out where I would be trenching.

IMG_20260520_094045.jpg

I was very careful with the gas line nearby and made sure to dig around to make sure it was deep enough.

IMG_20260520_094736.jpg

I trenched across the back yard after getting the front yard trenched.

IMG_20260520_104157.jpg

And the little strip along the garage where I installed the gates at.

IMG_20260520_104206.jpg

I will have to pull up a couple courses of bricks to hand trench the line across. The decayed bricks will get replaced sometime this summer most likely and a relevel of the rest.

IMG_20260520_104211.jpg

The side gate required a better latch which I installed as the poodles are good sized dogs and must be kept in the yard given the proximity to the road.

IMG_20260520_104638.jpg

This end and the back yard will get 2 zones of pop-ups, one zone the end and one zone the back.

IMG_20260520_104648.jpg

This is where the valve box goes and I have to run the system off a hose bib for now since there are no other water lines stubbed out of the house.

IMG_20260520_105214.jpg

I have to make an adjustment to the trench by the chimney as an A/C unit will be going in so need to do a jog around where the pad will likely go.

IMG_20260520_105332.jpg

In the front I trenched AROUND the lawn so as to minimize the damage to the main field.

IMG_20260520_105943.jpg

The front will be broken into 2 zones of rotors, the north and south sides.

IMG_20260520_105948.jpg

With the trenching done I loaded the trencher back onto the trailer and headed BACK to the valley to return it. Nicely it was just the 4 hr rate.

IMG_20260520_113656.jpg

I then drove back towards home but stopped at Horizon to pickup the rest of the parts I need for the irrigation install.

IMG_20260520_123341.jpg

I looked around on the hill for the alpaca and ended up seeing her upside down at the top of the hill, stuck on her side. So I climbed up the hill and rolled her over to let her try and regain her senses. Not sure how long she was like that. She was on the side of the hill and after we ate dinner I noticed she had flopped to head down hill. I hiked back up and drug her to a level-ish spot where she could more easily rest. I will check on her this morning and hope she has made it overnight.

Top of the damn hill...

I was gathering parts for today and went in the garden shed to hear skittering and found I had caught a mouse in one of the old bee packages.

10 years on Hive happened last night... Yay me?

Today I get the boys to school then have to load up everything for the install, stop at N40 for weed fabric, then go install the new irrigation system. This afternoon I have to pick R up after STEM. I am so sore and slept like shit last night so today will hopefully not be too rough on my body.

10 years? Huzzah!

Stupid Alpaca. Imitating a turtle, or one of those old ladies from the commercials? "Help, I've fallen, and I can't get up!"

They are serious prima donnas and have a knack for not letting us help them. I have yet to go check on her this afternoon. We will see. She is 14-ish years old.

10 years on Hive, congratulations my friend!!!👍🤗
I hope the alpaca is OK, odd that she would be stuck on her side!🙄

The sheep do it too, they get all jacked up if they are on their side too much. The stomachs go wonky I think. I'm not holding much hope for her given how busy I am now.
