Grain Run, Parts, Irrigation Install, Bidet, Long Damn Day, So Sore - Saturday

Such a long day yesterday... 5am I was on the road to town to get grain.

It was not a ton but still enough for the sheep and birds to enjoy.

I had the grain shoveled out before 6am.

8:45 I left to go to Horizon and get the parts I needed for the irrigation job. I then headed for Home Depot but as I walked up the store was emptying thanks to a fire alarm. I said "screw it" and just went to the install.

Mike had the irrigation lines and sprinklers in place, my job was to install the valves, boxes, and connect to the water supply lines. I made the smallest manifolds I could with the 1" poly and connectors which just barely fit the large round boxes I got.

I had to make a run to North 40 for the new galvanized T I needed for the front to replace the coupler. That allowed me to have a dedicated line for the front valves.

The supply line runs across the concrete and then 90s up to the gate valve I installed. The signal wire got tagged to the line then I ran the wire along the house and through a hole in the garage wall that Mike drilled for me.

It was hot and muggy in the sun in the back yard so I put together the next set in the shade and wind of the front yard. It was a bit convoluted to get the supply into the manifold, lots of 90s, but it ended up connecting to his 2 zones effectively. Signal wires run along the deck and then in through a hole in the garage wall. The controller got mounted in the garage, wires installed to it, and the system worked. Paid, they are very happy.

Next door I went to see what parts I would need to get the bidet hooked up to hot water and was happy to find a supply line ready to go. I had to go to North 40 again and got a brass 1/2 T, short nipple, and a 1/8" barbed coupler. I really hate teflon tape but figured it better than pipe dope for inside. It took some cranking with the pipe wrenches to get the seep to stop but the bidet now has hot water connected. I also worked on another toilet that keeps phantom flushing but am not sure I fixed it in the end. Hugh and I were both reading tips on sites and I tried everything I could. In the end I shortened the valve/float stem a bit after pulling it from the tank and reinstalling.

I was hot, sore, and tired and happy to head for home. I had been up since 4:30 am and worked myself good both mentally and physically. The beer was good and cold and I tried to quench the soreness. Shower and bed were nice but the pain crept back in overnight and I woke really sore this morning.

Today we have to harvest garlic seriously badly as many rows are ready. I am waiting on the ibu and flexeril to kick in so I might be able to get something done today. Would love a ride but may not get it in if my body stays this borked...
