Giro, Chicks, Rain, Tire Swap, Store, Gas, STORMS, Hail, Race Prep - Saturday

The Giro is ongoing and it rained for them again and I am very glad the rains passed by here so today will not be as wet as yesterday for my 50 mile ride.

While @stryeyz got much needed sleep-in time I got the chicks out to the brooder finally. They had been rather chill in the house and not super noisy but they needed the room and more feed able to be put in with them.

They were rather happy to have the space and were warm enough given the mild temps and rain.

First cell hit mid morning.

And even dropped a bit of hail as the back of it passed.

J's new tires needed to be mounted so I got them swapped out. He now has the road tires like I have on my mtn bike. They are WAY nicer and faster/easier on the pavement than knobby tires.

It was after noon when @stryeyz and I headed to town to pickup my car from the ER. I stopped at Yokes for groceries and then hit the new Circle K for gas. The storm was crazy dark to the north, back over the farm.

Quite the wall o cloud.

It was dumping when I got home and the hail had begun to fall heavier.

We got a nice coating of the hail around the farm.

That cell was pretty intense and just one of the many that was floating around the region.

While it rained for much of the afternoon I got my kit ready for today, got all my gadgets charged, and then tuned up my bike between rain showers. The fucking derailleurs are a pain in the ass to get fine tuned and I think I managed to get them to an okay point. I have tools to dick with them if they become a problem on the course today.

Good carb dinner of penne and kale and an early-ish bed has me feeling pretty well ready for the ride today.

Leaving in an hour and a half for the start at 8:30. My goal is to go sub 3hr30min for the 50 miles and the winds look pretty calm so I may just be able to do it. Super stoked to be riding my first organized ride/race and then this afternoon J has his flag football practice and game which will give me a nice bit of sitting/relaxing time. I should make sure to have the muscle roller with me to use the time wisely sitting in the stands.
