Garden, PT, Sparkplugs, Hawk, Hay, The Drive, Unloading, First CC Meet, 7:30 mile, Trailer - Tuesday
It was misty and quite cool yesterday morning which was a major portent of Fall just around the corner.
The cool temps meant the garden went on hiatus for a couple days so I only manage a little over a pound of squash.
Then I just left the greenhouse as well since only a couple cucs looked ready. So this morning I will likely have a better haul.
The chiro appointment was good and I got to roll for nearly half an hour on the table before the adjustment.
I was only half a mile or so north of Napa so I went down and got a new set of spark plugs for my truck.
As I pulled up to the gate to wait for it to open I saw a massive hawk over a dead hen. It flew up to a tree near the house and I hauled ass in and slammed to a stop. I ran in the house and grabbed the 20ga and some shells and ran outside.
I got a good shot on it as it took off from the tree and I could tell a few pellets hit it. I watched it fly off towards the hill so I ran around the studio and got another good shot off at it as flew through the trees towards the river. I LOVE THIS 20ga!!!
HOLY FUCKING HELL!!!! Uhm, I think that was a problem. Do I have to tell you which is bad and which is good?
I noticed the bees were in hyper mode so went to check, they weren't swarming just SUPER busy.
FINALLY!!!!! I had the trailer on and headed north to get hay for the animals in my truck once again.
I stopped at the store for the ranch where we get our sides of beef and got bison from but they no longer take the money for the hay, it's just done at the house.
Oh boy... There has to be a first for everything I guess.
I have NEVER put 3 bales on the trailer before so this was a seriously sketchy endeavor to take it at highway speed for 20+ miles. It got me the discount price for the 4 bales though so I figured, FUCK IT! It's a good test for my truck and the sheep needed the hay desperately.
My two biggest concerns were the bale tipping off the stack mid drive and then trying NOT to have a big line of cars held up behind me.
Thankfully I only had a couple vehicles that were back there as I was able to do 60mph almost the whole way home.
I was constantly watching my mirrors for any wobble or sway so I could counteract it as fast as possible. But the trailer rode like a champ with the weight right.
On the farm I back the trailer into the pen and tipped the top bale off nice and easy.
I like these bales they are a bit lighter than the one I normally got so they are FAR easier to roll or tip over just myself.
Hungry hungry hippos, I mean sheep...
After tossing poles to the side I cleared the hay area and off loaded the 3 bales. I have to cover them with pallet covers today and come up with another tarp[ to cover them with so the covers don't get sun baked.
I had the hay done in time to take a bit of a break before R and I headed to one of the closer school for J's first cross country meet. The parking was psychotic and I managed to get a spot just in time.
SOOO MANY PEOPLE! There was well over 100 kids in the boys 6th grade race. All the races were 1 mile.
It was totally like a marathon start with the mass moving along.
J did KILLER!!! He got 37th overall and ran a 7:36 mile.
He was even the 5th in of his team which meant that they had 5 in the top 37 which bodes REALLY well if there is team scoring.
We watched the 6th grade girls run then I headed home while they got snow cones.
Once back I got the trailer hooked up to the truck and then loaded up barrels, which I took out this morning as they wouldn't work the way I wanted with the bed liner on...
I have been to town for a HUGE grain run already which will take a while to empty later. I'll get the boys to school in a bit then the grain has to come off the trailer, I need to work on the exhaust on the truck which was the code it threw yesterday, likely have harvest first thing, then this evening first session.

New plugs will definitely make an improvement my friend!💪😊
These look like long reach plugs, does your truck have a hemispheric head?
Our Suzuki plugs looked as bad last year … new plugs made all the difference!💪😊
The thread length was the same on both, I was just holding them a bit uneven. Think my exhaust problem is I need new gaskets on the pipes between the engine and cat.
Good to hear the truck is running!😊
New gasket, and new plugs and hopefully the repairs are finished!👍😊
