Enraging Shitty Car, Session, Timer Snafu, Salt, Wreck, 16.4 Mile Trainer Ride, Rain - Tuesday
We had stars showing yesterday morning before dawn but the clouds moved in quick and largely obscured them by the time the sun blotted them out. At least my head is not feeling like a cesspool as much in the mornings now and the ick feeling fades sooner.
The rain is not stopping and we had another 1/4 inch. No snow for winter but now a soggy spring...
Moments of sky happened but otherwise it was clouds for the day. 7:30am my morning went to pure and utter shit. The piece of shit car refused to start as I was trying to get the boys to school. It was ENRAGING! My jump pack refused to give enough juice to turn the fucking engine over, so I ripped the battery out of my truck and stuffed it in to have it do zero. I grabbed the jumper cables and hooked the car battery to the truck battery and still nothing. It was all I could do NOT to start smashing in the windows of the piece of shit.
So @stryeyz had to come home from work so we could get the boys to school which we managed to do just in time. They both made it in without being late. I then took her to work so I could have the car.
That meant I was in town half an hour early for my 9am session so I went and sat and looked up new alternator availability in case. My session went well given my morning and came back upon my life long issue with "fear of success". It is something that has impacted me forever and is part of my shitty avoidant nature.
Out of my session I headed the mile to my client's house where I had to fix my fuck up with the timer I installed for his water feature. On install I was focused on the fact that one line is broken for the circuit but COMPLETELY IGNORED the fact that the timer requires a neutral line to make the clock work right. I was very close to having to drive home for a 6" piece of wire when I ended up finding an old junk wiring harness in the back of the car which I was able to scavenge a piece of wire to run. After helping Dan with a couple things in the garage it had been enough time to see the timer was now working with the clock dial spinning.
At least I got paid up for the install and pump work.
On the way home I stopped at North 40 and got salt for the softener and a tub of sheetrock mud. Once back I went straight to the car, now that my jump pack was charged fully, and got it started. I tested the alternator and found it outputting 14.4v, the correct voltage. I then called my Dad to make sure it was correct. I now am removing the negative battery wire after each drive in hopes that a parasitic loss won't keep draining the battery so I don't require the jump pack for every start.
The rain was heading our way then and as I was on the phone with him I watched a slew of emergency vehicles go screaming by on the highway headed north.
It wasn't till later that I saw there had been a bad wreck a mile up. It shut the south bound highway down for over an hour but no helo was required. 3 car crash and many people sent to the hospital.
This morning I see the detail in the news and it kinda makes my blood boil. More than half the wrecks, if not 2/3 to 3/4 of all the wrecks that happen on this stretch involve ELDERLY PEOPLE! I have a very serious problem with the lack of more stringent driver testing for the elderly.
77 year old man pulled out and plowed into a car carrying 5 people which then hit another car at the stop sign. THIS IS A REGULAR PROBLEM!!! Elderly inability to see, pay attention, and react properly is a SCOURGE in our society that is seemingly condoned by the Gerontocracy we live in. Excuse after excuse for not requiring more stringent rules for the elderly keep leading to injuries of innocent people.
Hell, a few years back an ancient pulled out onto the highway (within view of where I now sit), right into the path of a truck with a trailer and she died in the resulting wreck that was her fault. Each of the wrecks at our intersection invariably has that commonality of age related.
Ok, off my soap box.
Got my ride in on the trainer and found I need to better place the fan so it blows on my face and better cools me so I am not sweating like in a sauna. It's good to sweat since it helps the body slough the sick but the air would feel much nicer.
Trying new apps in my Edge to see more metrics. DATA = GOOD!
The rain finally hit before 4pm.
And again I watched the wall of water move across the valley at towards the farm. I picked J up after track practice and @stryeyz got a ride home from her co-worker.
The joys of my brain ruminating over night I am up at my normally abnormal early time again today. It's raining still and looks to be all day long. Watching the stage of the O Gran Camino race now, I will get the boys to school in a while, get my trainer ride in earlier today, likely work on cleaning the kitchen floors and then come up with dinner this evening after picking J up from practice.

The controlled environment of the house helps so I'm not blasting chilled air down my throat and in my sinuses. I prefer to ride outside but this is a good alternative for rainy days.

you are absolutely right training in a controlled environment is the best strategy to not worsen the cold while you keep adding miles for your 50 mile goal

Just removed the headlight security relay and the security system control box and the car started so I am going to see if that fixed it. Subaarus are notorious for the shitty security systems on older cars.

I never had any security system on any of my Subaru's, just the basic models......
I guess it was working pretty well, it wouldn't even let you drive it Lol!😇
