El Gato, PDC, Birthday, 15 Mile Bike Ride, Plane, Every Cop, Thumbtack Job - Monday

I am sleeping later finally, I think it is the reduction in alcohol and the rides that are helping. Now I am up to 7 hours more regularly but I am not feeling as awake as I was before first thing...

Yesterday morning I popped on the PDC to see Manby demolish Rydz who I am not a big fan of. In a huge surprise RVB beat Niman and is the first match this morning if I can find the stream.

I got the boys to school and then for part of the morning the cat was roaming around the house learning her new environment. Jax is pretty calm with her and she is wanting to snuggle with him, but he is still jumpy.

She made her way into the house and slowly made her way around checking things out.

I got her onto the couch with me and she pushed into the side of my leg and absorbed the petting.

She is doing great when the house is calmer and is still a bit jumpy when there is chaos of the rest of the household.

They both chilled on the floor for a while and then later I closed her back in the pantry so I could open the dog door.

I called my Dad for his birthday and we talked for a good bit. Got to tell him about Art and what happened and how he is doing. He has known Art as long as I have really. We also talked about the bike trainer he got and setup after our call. It will be good for him to have it to spin on to get him exercising more often, which he can do in the house and not have to fight hills all around the Sierras.

I then got myself ready and headed out for my ride. It's getting a bit tougher to decide WHERE to ride each time as I am wanting to try varying routes and not just the same on every time. I have been staring at North rd for a long time on the map, it is the old "highway" before the new 395 was built.

I LOVE these jerseys! It was low 40s F and the top is just warm enough to keep the chill at bay. The speed and cadence sensors are killer too and I now am able to see both on the Garmin Edge while riding to better be able to put myself into certain effort levels.

I did a bit of a cool down lap through the trailer park after dropping down the hills where I got my new top speed on the road bike of 45 mph. When I got back to the house I was not nearly as sore or wobble legged as I have been before. I also felt a lot stronger than prior rides. I have to get an hour ride in today to finish off the Garmin 20 hrs of riding in March badge.

I had my stuff in the car and was heading out to leave for Spokane and the Thumbtack job I had picked up. I heard an airplane doing tricks from inside the house and walked out to see this plane do a 3 stop barrel roll over the house right into a nice big backwards loop. The barrel roll was 1/4 turn, hold, 1/4 turn, hold, 1/4 turn, hold, back to level. It is a bigger plane as I could tell by the engine sound and the sheer size of the wing span, not the plane half that size that does much faster aerial tricks regularly.

I was waiting to get on the highway and saw this MASS of cops all along the highway. There was no accident but the vehicle was stopped on my side along the guardrail. Literally every trooper on call was there and 4 or 5 sheriffs. Apparently it was a call for a combative person who then got strapped down for transport.

Very nicely EVERY trooper was there so they were NOT on patrol anywhere. That meant we all were hauling ass into Spokane.

My job was not too hard. This bracket for the shower bar had pulled loose so instead of a screw sleeve I installed an expansion screw that will NOT allow the bracket to pull free again. I fixed the brackets as tight as the tile would allow and reinstalled the shower bar.

Then the door to the other bathroom was all kinds of messed up on hte hinges. The screws had pulled over the years and someone had used little tiny strips of metal in the holes as "sleeves" or a way to shrink the holes. I ended up installing screw sleeves in every hole and managed to get the door to close as good as the frame will allow. Only a 4 to 6 inch section still rubs a tiny bit on the latch side frame.

I also drove a screw in above the top hinge to help hold the trim to the stud and thus suck in the top hinge enough to level the door.

I headed home and turned onto our road as the bus was waiting to cross the highway to drop the boys. I waited all of a minute for them to get in the car. Perfect timing.

I worked on setting up a Garmin training plan for the 50 mile Lilac Century ride May 17th which gives me 6 weeks of a bit more directed training rather than my just go ride training. R had his next to last wrestling practice so I had to get dinner ready in time. The cat is getting more comfortable all the time but the chaos does drive her back to her pad in the pantry.

Busy today. Weekly session this morning, then have to buy parts, then will go install a timer for a water feature and figure out why it is tripping the gfi outlet. I need to get an hour ride in since the next couple days are to be rain/snow. R has his last practice and team picture tonight.
