Dead Ram, Bike Rack, 3DP Wasp Deterrents, Windows, Hive Setup, Radios, Open House, Trailer - Tuesday
Yesterday morning after getting the boys to school I went out and put the ram down. He had gone down hill fast and I couldn't get him back, without knowing exactly what was wrong with him the carcass ended up in the bone yard. The fiber is too shitty to keep so the birds get to pick at it for nests out there. I used the garden cart without the sides. I tipped it on its side next the the ram and then rolled them both up and onto the cart and wheels. Drug the cart up the hill to the bone yard and dropped him off. He was born here and he died here.
The bike situation had become a problem since the boys have a tendency to leave their bikes in the driveway. I looked around the farm and figured out the pallet is the easiest route.I had to rip the middle support out but it works perfectly now and they have a place to put the bikes every time they are done riding. I have to cleanup the area better but this is the general idea.
While it was still shaded over the sled I took the razor blade to the windows again and removed more of the tint and glue. I then brought out the alcohol and paper towels and cleaned the insides real well. It's amazing what happens when windows are cleaned, I can actually see through them!
Pumping out the wasp deterrents 6 at a time. Going to mail a pack of them off to @silvertop today to give a try on the west side.
It was warm so I decided to get the hive ready for the bees on Saturday. I had to sort frames from the old hive and clean them the best I could. I managed 5 nice full frames for the bottom super where the nuc frames will go then about 6 full to partial full frames for the top super with empties around. One of the frames ended up having a hanging slab of comb and honey that broke off while I was moving the frame. It went to the house for us to nom on.
Another set of 6.
I picked up a pair of Baofeng UV26 radios. This is the newer version of the 5R and does 10w and can monitor the air bands which I really want to have while paragliding. If I would have had it the other day at Tekoa I could have heard the radio calls of the crop duster that was flying around the hill all day long. I have an air band radio as well which might be good to have with when going flying in general...
These are usb c charging which is super handy. Less options than some radios but at 10 watts transmit power the trade off will likely be in my favor. I set them up in chirp with the channels and options and they almost ready after I update with the various air bands for the local airports.
Dozen and a half for the day so far.
@stryeyz came home from work an hour early so we could all eat dinner before heading up to the middle school for the 6th grade open house. They did this one earlier and will have another in August, thankfully. J will have been at 3 schools in 3 years since our elementary is only k-4 then 5th is up at the main elementary and 6-8 is next door at the middle school. It is a rather fucked situation so they are trying to alleviate some of the stress on the kids and families this way.
Didn't realize the middle school was as big as it is from the front. We got a stroll around the halls and in some classes then headed for home.
I got the trailer hooked up once back and parked for the grain run I have done already.
Out to soak as the light faded.
I was up at 4:20 this morning and have been to town for the grain and emptied it as soon as I got home and unhooked the trailer. I'll get the boys to school in a bit, get the printer going again, work on the gardens, work on my truck, get gear ready for flying Scoop Mountain tomorrow again, find a place to mount the mason bee house, mail the deterrents, then pick boys up from running club, and then figure dinner out.
