Climbed, Topped, Cut, Cut Down Pine Tree, Bucked, Stacked, Soaked, SO SORE! - Friday

Yesterday morning I woke and got my post done and then the boys to school before getting the car loaded and heading up to the job. I got there before 10 am and was setup and climbing the tree in the middle by 10.

I made it this far up limbing with my folding hand saw. I don't have a light saw so went that route. I was trying to keep going but got sewing machine leg and had to down climb for a break. I bid the job at a total and not hourly so time was less relevant.

SOOOO... I climbed back up the tree and got the next 10 feet of branches cut then started to top it. I cut a nice face cut with the hand saw and started the back cut when the top lolled back and pinched off the back cut. It scared me as the power line to the house was on the back cut side. I did a rapid descent after clipping my saw tether line to the tree. I then tensioned the line to the base of the fence post by the gate and then climbed BACK up the tree. I topped the tree and it landed perfectly.

The neighbor was out and after the cut reacted to my very loud sighs of relief. The tree was only about 6 inch diameter at my top cut and the thing moved like crazy. I then down climbed again. I had to take breaks as my calves and shins were sore as hell.

Then I got my chainsaw tethered again and climbed up half way and tried to get the saw to start again which it refused to do. So down I climbed again and got it running well before climbing BACK up and cutting the middle section down.

I then went at the base of the tree and made a HUGE face cut. I could do it since there was a root on the back side that held the tree really well.

It then was on the ground quickly. I bucked the 2 sections after changing my chain.

Not happy the middle section's top smacked into the gray water section of the leech line. It exploded the 1" ball valve and the 1 1/2" 90. The system is brand new and she won't be creating gray water from the system for many years. I still will be fixing it today when I go back to haul off the tree.

Moving the wood all to the side I was able to then cover over the stump. She said she is going to end up having it ground out so I don't have to do much more covering on it.

It was 1pm and I had the yard cleared enough. I was SO destroyed and was very happy to head home and go straight to the shower.

I then went and soaked for a while which helped my stupidly sore body a bit.

My afternoon was spent doing little, keeping J cleaning on his room, and trying to keep the pain from getting worse. After dinner @stryeyz and I got a soak in. My body is so sore I was waking up a lot last night. I feel so sore this morning. My right side just below my ribs is super tender from the d-ring on the swami belt and climbing.

Seriously I should have been thinking and NOT rode for 21 miles right before having this job to do... But here I am and hopefully it gives me a solid step up in muscle mass and strength.

Today is R's last wrestling tournament then once back I will hook up the trailer and go haul the tree back to the farm. I have to get the parts to fix the leech line as well.

This is the first I have climbed and taken down from the top down. I have only ever climbed and limbed then dropped the whole stem.
