Bag, Crab, PT, Parts, Harvests, Stockup, Magnet, Squash, X Country Meet, Exhaust, Pileated, VB, SCC - Thursday
Finally ordered myself a new sleeping bag yesterday morning. My old Mtn Hardwear bag is 30 years old but it has crazy legs which allows the legs to move freely and not be confined in a normal mummy bag. It's a 0F and with my bivy bag it will take it to -15F, with the liner blanket down to -25F. Nicely the bivy sack is wide enough to allow these new crazy legs to be used.
A classmate of R's wanted a crab so I got a file and printed it out for him in under 7 minutes so he had it to take to school with him.
PT was good and the muscle stim is soo good. I need to be doing it WAY more here at home!
After PT I was at Napa just down the street and picked up one of the 2 exhaust gaskets I need. Fortunately Deer Park store had one that got set out for me.
So then a quick drive north up the 395 and I was in and out of Deer Park with my 2nd gasket in hand.
I was home around 10:30 and headed straight for the garden to get the harvesting done.
I remembered earlier this time that I needed to stock up for my SIV trip. I got on Spokane Greenleaf and got my order in, then went and picked it up. Seriously recreational is killer. $100 for all this is a rather good price and it blows my mind that ozs are so cheap, this one was $24 and on the better side of middle. I headed right in to town again to pickup my order.
I picked up a magnet for magnet fishing and was in the glass shop when I found the perfect case for the magnet.
I was curious so pulled out the EMF meter to see how strong it is.
The meter got maxed rather easy but it took to within about 6 inches for the full mag force. I have a nylon rope and will take the boys over to the river under the bridge on the highway to see what we might haul out of the water.
Out digging around in the squash rows I exposed the big ass green pumpkin. It crossed with something over the years and I saved seed. Just one of the 50+ pound pumpkins growing.
The point was to dig out the acorn squash from beneath the mass of plants. 20 pounds of them went to the deck.
J had his next X Country meet and it was at their school which made it nice and easy for us to go to.
4 schools and all the boys ran at once so 6th - 8th. About 100 kids were lined up at the start.
The course was a mile and a half this time and the first kids came in at around 8 minutes.
J did great and ended up 39th overall which meant he was faster than a lot of 7th and 8th graders.
Did not see his time but likely will find out today. It took a while to get gathered and headed for home.
Back on the farm I shoved myself back under the truck and attempted to remove the bolt on the left side exhaust... ANNNNNDDDDD it broke. I fucking hate exhaust bolts, they NEVER EVER are not corroded or rusted and frozen in place... Why is there not better bolts that can handle the heat and exposure? Only need about 12 of them on the underside.... So I used the little c-clamps and am holding them together. I started the truck and it sound WAY better just having the flanges touching better.
Today I will have to pull the exhaust manifold off on the right side so I can remove the studs, then I will drill out the hole and put in bolts and nuts instead of the shitty studs. THEN I can put the new gaskets in while I reinstall.
R was outside as I was walking back to the house and a Pileated woodpecker made a huge racket as it flew overhead and landed in the tree. R was pretty stoked to see it.
America's largest woodpecker the thing was about a foot tall or more and it looked like it had an 18"+ wingspan as it flew off.
The nieces had a volleyball game back in North Dakota we were able to watch the live stream of. They kicked ass once again.
My new charge controller arrived for the small panel setup I have that I will take with me to keep the truck battery float charged and to keep a small tractor battery charged.
Out to soak for a while but we need to add water as the level is pretty low, which means I need to fix the one jet on my side...
Today I will work on the truck after getting the boys to school, get harvest done early, try to get this knot in my back to break down, pickup the co-op order, PDC is on, I need to find truck bed cross bars to mount our topper on, then this evening we go see Dave Attell at Spokane Comedy.

Looks like a nice portable charge controller, my friend!👍😊
That should keep everything charged up nicely!
What type of battery are you using, and what voltage?
It's going to be keeping my 12v truck battery charged and then a little 375 cca battery like for mowers. It will give me ample juice for the week.
Excellent, my friend, sounds like a good set up!👍😊
