As per normal I was awake by 4am yesterday and found the print had finished overnight. The bracelet stands came out pretty nice and now have 2 of each color and 8 in total.

It had rained overnight and the clouds were ,moving out as the sun came up.

We are getting a lot of rain for the beginning of November but it still doesn't come close to last year's November which is the highest monthly rain total in the past 5 years... 6.01". So far we have 1.41" in just the first 7 days of the month.

The sky looked cool as I dropped the boys at school.

I was told we needed more Dummy parts so I got a pair printed in PETG.

The clouds thinned out in the morning and it got kinda nice.

IMG_20251106_081955.jpg

9:30 I was on the road north to go paragliding.

Got to Inkler's then had to wait around for Chris to arrive.

Some big ass Inkies on the side of the road to launch.

Got to launch and the wind was cycling but strong. I got my wing out as did Chris.

IMG_20251106_104805.jpg

The gusts ended up being from the gust front to the inbound storm system which ended up hitting too hard for me to get in the air. I got drug across launch when the gust hit as I tried to launch.

Chris made it up but most of the flight was parked in one spot. Kin and I chose NOT to fly in the rowdy air.

As I drove south for home the storm was moving in and I started getting rained on only a few miles south of the hill. I stopped in Deer Park to pickup the cupcakes for R's birthday today for school.

IMG_20251106_120552.jpg

I got home to find the last of the bracelet stands finished to complete the 8th. @stryeyz has enough space for 50+ bracelets now.

IMG_20251106_132059.jpg

I checked the doppler and found the real storm still a ways off. AND I had time before J got off the bus.

So down to the river I walked, a whole 350 yards from the house, with my waders and fly rod in my big paragliding pack.

The Little Spokane river flows underneath the highway and creates some really nice places to throw the line at.

IMG_20251106_142410.jpg

Up stream is deeper and where the suckers and catfish will sit.

IMG_20251106_142412.jpg

Before leaving the house I dug into my books and info to find the Blue Winged Olive is the fly for this time of year. I found a suitable one in my flies and had it stuck to the handle. I setup my rod, tied the fly on, got my waders on and tromped into the water. I made about 4 casts and let the line float down stream a bit. I began to bring the line in and HOLY SHIT I had a fish on!!! I reeled it in and realized I didn't have my net on me. Luckily for the little trout it got itself off the hook and swam off. I went and grabbed my net to have on me and not long later I caught my first rainbow trout on my new fly rod.

IMG_20251106_143811.jpg

The trout were all 6-8" or so and quite small, BUT I caught fish which shows I chose the correct fly!

The second one I landed was smaller but they all fought nicely for such little fish.

It was really badass. Just opened up a whole new world for myself. I've thrown my line out numerous times over the years but have caught few on flies anywhere I have tried. Yesterday I caught more fish in 30 minutes on the fly than I had the prior 10 years fly fishing attempts.

IMG_20251106_144725.jpg

I was watching my watch as it was getting closer to J getting off the bus so I cast out again and reeled in the 3rd catch. I let all the fish go to get bigger and maybe get a little more wily and cautious. I can say for certain that I will be spending more time under the highway until the water freezes over.

IMG_20251106_144954.jpg

I headed back for the house and waited the few minutes for the bus to drop J and we headed back to the house. I went and picked R up after STEM then once home worked on getting dinner made. Damn chicken took forever to cook in the airfryer but it came out good in the end. The rain really moved in after dark and really dumped overnight.

Finally getting back at the board and this was a badass 108 checkout.

IMG_20251106_192453.jpg

I have a killer library now of fly tying and this is what I used to decide the fly for yesterday. I had printed out the hatch chart for the CDA river in Idaho, which is really not far from here so I figure it is as close as needed. I dug into my books and found both the green drake and the blue winged olive so I now can work on learning to tie them. Thankfully I have about 30 pre-tied dries that are close enough.

Today is going to be clear as the storm moved off after dropping over half an inch last night. I will get the boys to school. it's R's birthday, it's the Veteran's day concert at his school mid day, I will go throw the fly some more this morning, need to go back to the House of Fly and show him my pic of my first fish caught on my rod and look for waterproof gloves, then not sure what we are doing for dinner yet.
