3DP, Dawn Grain Run, The Rain, Utd They Fall, Syrup, Coyote, Bon Fire, Chiefs Lose - Friday
First thing yesterday morning I opened the printer to find all the dibbles had printed out perfectly. The ASA printed really smooth and they are going to work perfectly for garlic planting this fall. I'm debating making a roller that would need a lot more of them printed, but I have time to design and print that if I do.
The storms were inbound early but I had a bit of time I thought before it really hit.
On the road to town before 5am and the clouds were already moving in and some sprinkles were starting to fall.
Only a couple barrels to load which I had done quickly.
It's weird now having the coffee place opening when I am getting grain. Used to only be the people waiting for the plasma place that would be out so early.
Our beginnings to the stormy day.
Way to the north the clouds had obscured the mountains as the stream of traffic headed the other way to town.
Just caught the sun behind Mt Spokane. I got home and emptied the grain out into the sheep pen and unhooked the trailer so @stryeyz could have her car for the day.
It was 6am and the rain moved in for the day.
Dumb camera didn't take the pic right but I tried printing out hose couplers and did one of each in 1/2, 5/8, and 1". I will see how they fit the lines today and may print some more.
I spent some time mid morning rebuilding my med kit for my paraglider. I needed more in it and to swap out some of the band aids for newer. The pod has less immediate storage options than the Verso so it's taking a bit to decide where I will carry things.
By mid day the storm was fully douching the region and continued all day until late afternoon.
Utd played and as per their usual were absolute shit. Almost got a goal except for Harry's fat shoulder going offsides.
While they got their ass handed to them I got syrup made for the bees. They had run down the first batch which I had done at 8 to 4 but this I did at 8 to 6. (8 pounds sugar to 4 or 6 pounds water) I let it cool over the afternoon then poured it into the hive top feeder when it had cooled enough.
And there it was, Chelsea kicked Utd's ass like everyone knew they would.
The rains have helped pop a number of puff balls around the farm. This is the largest one I have found so far and it's the size of a golfball now.
A massive coyote was across the creek in the morning and our neighbor chased it off. I went to check the turkey carcass and it was GONE. Our property is mostly fenced so there is only one direction it could get on from, the highway and creek side. I went and hiked the upper property looking for any holes under the fence but found none. On my way around the flowers are still blooming.
It was after 5pm and the rains had largely stopped so I went out and got the burn pile going. It didn't take much cardboard to get it ablaze despite the day of rain. Helps it was all super soft wood that was largely dry.
Got a good bit of ash in the air at the beginning but then it got good and hot and less got lifted.
The boys came out and helped haul stuff across the creek and from around the yard.
I kept an eye on the fire from the house.
The Chiefs played and were doing okay for the first period. Not great but okay.
At the period break I went to the fire and kicked it back into flame and rolled a few shitty rounds over and piled them on. As I look down at the pile this morning it is nothing but ash and a couple little pieces of wood left on the sides.
The Chiefs lost 4-2 and ended their playoffs. They did great getting this far but just didn't have enough to get past Medicine Hat.
I could tell they were going to lose and my elbow was giving me horrible pain and fits so I headed for the shower then spent a good bit abusing myself with the theracane trying to get the muscles to mellow out. I feel it in my shoulder and it is causing the elbow issue.
Sunny this morning and if it stays dry I may go try flying at Inkler's mid day. I want to try my new harness out if the winds work. I'll get the printer going in a bit, work around the gardens, when the tape delivers I'll fix the harness, keep babying my elbow, watch the continued implosion in the club, possibly get the burn pile going again if there is enough left to make it worth it, then tonight I will grill for dinner.

Is that a mixture of water and sugar, what health benefit does it do when poured on the bees,
?
Yeah just sugar and water. It's a fake nectar that they have right at the hive so they work less to build the hive up for overwintering.
ohhhh but does this fake nectar fade off ?
No, they just use it to fill the cells in the frames and then use it as food when it's too cold outside for them to collect normally.
ohhh i see its more like feeding them. nice
Let's hope we both get a little bit of sun today...😎
Have a good flight if the weather cooperates you get a chance to get airborne!!👍😀
I see that bonfire and I can't stop thinking about how much fun my @abelarte and my children would have... the mischief they would get into and I was about to...
I have so much debris on the farm I could have a running bon fire once a week all year and probably still not get through it all. The boys enjoy feeding them, that's for sure.
Does your pod system allow for wearing an admin pouch type chest rig? You can fit everything from a boo-boo assortment to splints and tourniquets and instaclot with room to spare.
I have a lot of room available in various pockets and compartments. Since I have a front mount reserve the in harness compartment is open for storage and can hold 3-4L of volume plus the main back pocket is twice that. And thanks for the reminder I need to put my tourniquet in the kit.
