32 Mile Bike Ride, Garlic Harvest, Weeding, Hike, Eagle Debris, The SSD Trouble, Soak - Saturday

Yesterday morning I headed out on a bike ride. It was a bit windy but otherwise a very nice morning with temps below 70F for the duration. I realized that my tires were a bit low so after inflating them fully I was a bit amazed at how much faster I was able to ride. That and likely the 3 weeks off made a difference as well.

I headed west and was rather thankful that I did not go out Staley as there was a detour for it. That made my decision for me as to my route choices.

Scoop mountain where I have flown before.

I hit Williams Valley road and went north to Gibson-Dahl which I have not been on in years. I stopped at the intersection to check the maps and make sure I knew where I was going. The clouds were great the whole ride.

Back east I went and didn't realize until I got home just how straight of a line my track was for much of the ride.

Nice 32 miles in and pr'd a segment at the beginning.

While the family went to town for a birthday gift for the party R went to in the afternoon I was in the garden digging the last of the main garden garlic. The Carpathian variety did GREAT! nice big bulbs and I got more back than I planted, by one or two. That make 16 of the 22 varieties harvested and somewhere in the over 2000 range of bulbs I have drying now.

Next was to weed along the greenhouse as they were trying to invade. The leeks that over wintered are all flowering now and I have no clue what to do with them. Letting them flower for now and maybe will just collect a shit ton of seeds? I still have to haul the wheelbarrow load to the sheep pen this morning.

I headed out to check the mail and noticed the storms building up to the west. The doppler showed them growing nicely and heading mostly north and not at the farm. I hiked up the hill and they were some nice looking cells stacked out to the west.

With the heat the prior week the eagles had been shedding a good bit so I wandered the pen and collected. I found my first goose skull that they have dropped in all these years. It still needs the bugs to finish the cleanup before I bring it down for the skull collection.

At the base of their nest tree I found this hunk o fish that was well dried.

In the early evening while the world cup matches were going on I worked on trying to get the fucking laptop setup on Ubuntu. The stupid thing won't boot from a sd card, it's not even an option in the bios... So out came the ssd and I wiped it of winblows. Then I tried multiple ways of getting Ubuntu onto the drive with rufus, balenaetcher, and a couple other programs but NOTHING WORKED! Rather frustrating, even with Grok's help it still refuses to boot. I will screw with it more today and see if I can get it to actually boot Ubuntu.

After dinner I headed out to finally get a soak in after the new pump install. The fresh fill and new pump were quite nice. The water helped my sunburn peel which the family stripped me of as I was trying to lay and read in bed. R vacuumed the shed so it wasn't littering the bed last night.

Today it is to be nice again and I would like to get a ride in with J as he needs the training if we are to do the 100 mile trip before school starts end of August. I want to head up Mt Spokane as far as he is able. It's uphill the whole way but then downhill the whole way home. More garden work, messing with the laptop, prep for work this week, and likely a variety of other tasks.

The miles are gradually ticking off of my 2500 goal for the year. Less miles this month for sure with the 3 weeks off but still my average distance has increased each month.

4 weeks until the next 50 mile event and I already feel like I will be ready to try and hit my 3 hr time goal.
