19.6 Mile Bike Ride, PRs, Cabbage, Hot, Tools, Swallowtail, 3DP - Friday
I headed out for a ride yesterday morning before it got too hot. It is a bit interesting to me that I am a lot faster riding along the highway than on the side roads. I kept looking down at my Edge and seeing speeds in the 18 to 20 mph range. It IS fairly flat but still. I then headed east towards the Peone prairie and a section of the 50 miler I did in May.
Ended up back at the highway and headed north and even though the wind wasn't very strong I still had a tailwind.
As I rode into the yard I was rather surprised to see I was near 20 miles in just over an hour...
I was doubly surprised to see my Strava stats saying I got my PR for 30K and below! This even beats out my trainer rides! The next 50 mile ride is in 2 weeks and I think I might possibly be able to hit my target time if I can keep the fitness between now and then.
It got hot not long after I got home and after devouring food I ended up watching the world cup match and Spain's win. I got some time in the garden working on the garlic but it was just too hot and I was having a lot of trouble finding the garlic as I dug. Later in the afternoon I was back in the garden harvesting cabbage. I got a big bag of them that went to the house and now needs a place to squeeze in the fridge.
Organized my tool bags and pulled out another to spread things out so my main one is not so overly filled and hard to pull tools out of. It is an ongoing challenge I am working on. If I had a service truck it would be different but this is my lot right now.
I was in the tool shed and found some wasp nests in hidden areas. I watched some flying around and saw one go in the greenhouse where I found an active nest which got quickly smashed with a brick. I turned around and found this dried out swallow tail on the ground. It is in amazingly good condition with only a bit of damage to the wings. It is saved for @stryeyz to eventually try encasing in resin.
My drill bits finally delivered so I got another tough case. I found some models to print for extra bit holders that slot into the case and printed them out. The t-shank holder is a bit wide for half my blades but half can fit tightly and not just fall out. I think the bit holders will work better.
Today we are going to go see Art then stop at the Chewelah fest where hopefully we will pickup our season passes for 49N. The winds look to be too strong for a flight and it will be in the 90s F again today. I need to pick peas again before we go as they get big fast in the heat.

Organizing tool bags is definitely an ongoing work of art with my friend Lol!!😇😀
I still use the old school bucket bags.... they work but they get awkward and heavy!!
Partly why I had to break out another bag, my main one just got to damn heavy and crammed full.
Those old-school tool buckets definitely get way too heavy Lol!😅🤣
